I second Peak Design bags. They have all sizes and can be multi-purpose. They do NOT scream out camera bag and again can be used for other purposes.
Now that you've spent $4K on camera and lens, a Billingham Hadley is your only choice. Expensive? You bet? Worth it? Goes without saying. I favor the all-black model in the small size.
One who knows. -- SG

I know this subject has been discussed many times in the past, but companies merge, go out of business, models change, etc. I am looking for the simplest, most discreet camera bag available for just a Canon 5D Mk IV with 24-105 f/4 attached, plus a 16 - 35 f/4, and an extra battery and 2 filters. I don't need room for a flash, cables, drinks, etc. Body + lens height is about 7.7 inches. I don't want anything flashy or fancy. I have a Think Tank Retrospective 20 that fits my full 3-lens setup; something like that in a smaller version would be great. The TT Retro 5 seems like it might be too small, and the Retro 7 is still pretty big for just 2 lenses. I don't have a good, full-service camera shop anywhere nearby, so I can't just go and try things on for size.
Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I would recommend either the Hermit shell bag for your lense and camera --$24
Or Canon 2400 SLR gadget bag for EOS SLR camera --$43.98. Search on line with Amazon, etc.
Have a new Billingham 445 and it is amazing. Holds everything plus the kitchen sink. Also have an old Beseler camera bag that is based on the Billingham 335 I think and it's my bag when I don't need all of my equipment. It's lasted me at least 15 years. Don't know who actually made it as it has Billingham snaps on the shoulder straps . But the name on it is Beseler. The 445 holds my Canon 80D and 5 lenses, flash, and all accessories. Great bag.

I have had this bag fo 30 years now. Still works great and will hold exactly what you want it to from your post.
I put 1 camera with lens, 2 other lenses and batts, charger and other misc. items.
With larger lenses I put one on the camera and the large lens, I have put the 100-400mm MII with the camera and another lens on the camera.

I have the Case Logic photography backpack that is inexpensive (under $30.00) well padded, several pockets, comfortable to wear, that holds my D850 with 28-300 lens, a 16x35 wide angle, and my micro 60mm, filters, and misc. items. Works great, take it everywhere, very convenient. excellent quality.
Can not go wrong with Lowepro.....
Great customer service...

I like sling bags the best. I have LowePro and a Tamrac. The Tamrac is my favorite. This one should work for you. Good luck

It depends on how much protection you want for your gear. My dad has shot for decades, carrying his gear in a regular backpack or duffle, just enough to keep things contained but offering no protection. In all that time, I think he's lost maybe a single filter due to the bag being dropped inappropriately. But if you worry about damage, you're going to have to search for something more substantial, with padding, etc.
Rain protection can be had cheaply with 2.5 gallon ziplock bags. Or, if you prefer a less disposable method, outdoor stores like REI carry very lightweight and sturdy waterproof stuff sacks in a variety of sizes. A big advantage of the ziplocks is that you can tear the corners out, feed the neck strap through it, then have something that'll easily and quickly fold over a camera that's out: we used that method for protecting our cameras in Antarctica when out on the Zodiacs.
I really like ThinkTank products. I love the ThinkTank Retrospective series (messenger style). I have two in Pinestone (kind of a slate gray woven material) and one smaller one for a Canon mirrorless in black.
Excellent design and finish. Also doesn't look as much like a camera bag as most.
Jim
Thanks to everyone for your input. I guess I still have a lot of research to do!
I was looking for a backpack for my equipment and laptop. The problem was that the laptop was 17" where the backpacks would only take a 15" so I waited. Finally got an email from Amazon about an Amazon Basics and it took the 17" laptop and it was cheaper. So for about $40 I got it and so far it is fine. Will have to wait and see how it last over the years but for that price it was worth it.

Thanks for the links, though you got them reversed. Always on the lookout for a better bag!
