Went out today and found a few of the remaining critters. The Monarch was a welcome visitor but it landed in a very awkward shooting position. The little Leaf Hopper stood out on the blade of grass due to its color difference so I was able to get a shot of him. When hunting times get tough even a fly is a welcome subject and the grasshoppers that would swarm the field are now far and few between and those that remain have darkened in color to match the dying grasses.
I also took a few shots of the remaining wildflowers for they too will be gone soon. Thanks for viewing and comments, recommendations and critique are always highly welcomed.

With the critters you did very well. I wish I could learn butterfly talk to hav them move in the shooting position I want. For now it will be just patience and hope.
Thanks for viewing and the kind words. At 70-years old I think I need to have my bones adjusted after some of the contorted positions that I have to get into to get a shot although getting into them is not as difficult as getting out of them at times.
good job,i love 2,4 and 7
👍 I must confine my outings to weekends, now that I am back at teaching classes. And only if weather permits. I hope to get out tomorrow, and like you I will gladly take anything that comes.
Mark, I'm glad to hear that you are teaching for to me there are few things that are as fulfilling. I taught adult education trade school for several years and I was a trainer for our Union's trade classes as well as for our own trade staff and our designers so it appears that we have several of the same passions.
I also see that you are from mid-Michigan which surely means that winter will be approaching you soon also so I image that you and I will be macro shooting a lot of snowflakes and ice bubbles before too long. If we're lucky perhaps Punxsutawney Phil won't see his shadow next year and spring weather will come a bit sooner for us.
Another nice series sippyjug!
while I hate them as "pests" I love green bottle flies as subjects...abundant, cooperative and beautiful in color and detail. Yours is a terrific picture with beautifully crisp sharpness of all the details of the insect.
thanks for sharing.
Well done Gary, 2 and 4 are my favourites.

Thanks to all for viewing and the positive feedback. The feedback is very encouraging and it makes itching all of my mosquito bites all night worth it.
