Jim, another fantastic landscape.

Great picture, but where is it?
It is after all, "all about the light!" Great job of capturing the light at the right time.
"Follow the light." Something you do very well.

Nicely dramatic. Very skillful combination of light, color and contrast.
Wonderful photo, one of your best!!!

Looks very foreboding. I expect a UFO to come darting out from behind the mountain.

Now and then, when the trials and tribulations of retirement are just too much to bear, a friend and I get on the road and go to our favorite hot springs, a scenic and serene three hour drive over into Colorado. There, the lithium laced waters soothe the aching psyche, and calm the demons of impending dementia. And besides, sometimes ya just wanna get out of town for a while....
Wiki sez:
Erewhon: or, Over the Range is a novel by Samuel Butler which was first published anonymously in 1872. The title is also the name of a country, supposedly discovered by the protagonist. In the novel, it is not revealed where Erewhon is, but it is clear that it is a fictional country.
I read the book many years ago, and though I've forgotten the plot, I still remember the concept. Its one that stays with me, and sometimes it pops up in odd or surprising ways. And so it was, first, while exploring a little off the main road that runs through Ridgeway, CO one evening after dinner, and later, upon realizing that --hey, maybe-- a little drama isn't all that bad now and again. It was not my intention to fool anyone; it was, however, my intention to entertain the fantasy that Erewhon --which is, of course, 'nowhere' spelled backwards-- can and does exist. If only in the imagination.

Almost surrealistic. It's no wonder it got the name 'Erewhon'.
