Shutterfly is another one. My sister-inlaw sends me pictures all the time this way.

I use Google Drive. I put all the photos in a folder and share the link to that specific folder with whomever I want to share with.

Files such as musuc, photos, programs usually will not be further compressed with any compression utility.

I've not tried any of the suggestions here.
But, what about "zipping" the photos?
I do this quite often and it works like a champ for me?
If the photos are large, and i bet they are, try resizing them to 60% and then zip them.
Once downloaded by the other person they still can be printed to 8x10 without distortion, etc.
Or maybe I need to "get with it grandpa"?

I use Hightail.com You upload as large a folder as you like, then they get an email to download the file. I have used this for chapters of books I write and other large files.

I am trying to send a folder containing 65 pictures to a friend. I am not sure how best to do this.

Put them in an album on either Google Photos or Flickr and then simply email your friend a link

Have you noticed the disclaimer on WeTransfer.com? They sell cookies to third parties for advertising purposes. Have any people who have used the site noticed an uptic in advertisements in their mail and browser apps?

You can use wetransfer. www.wetransfer.com I like it better than drop box.

Most Microsoft owners have access to tons of OneDrive. I just send a private link that Microsoft provides and they can download at will. You can also set expiration date for link

SmugMug/Google/Dropbox/Prime...I have used all of them, and more.

It’s easy to use something like SmugMug, where you can have all your photos but send a direct link to a specific album or your personal domain name.

Print them and mail them via USPS. Yes, Old School, but the least amount of trouble.

Or copy the file to a thumb drive and mail it

I have a Free account on Dropbox and it works well and you can specify who gets to access the folder. I upload to a folder and specify who else gets access. They send email to that person. They download and I then Delete them. Don't use up my space that way.
I plan on trying Google Drive sometime soon.

how large is the folder?

Choices:

1. email but will probably have to send in multiple emails due to size limits on email.
2. If you have Mac you can use Maildrop from within apple mail to send up to 20 GB. It sends your receipitant a link in there email which when they click will allow them to download the folder and images. It is a built in function
3. Use any number of FTP sites to send - some are free
4. Use Dropbox or Google Drive or Apple iCloud which are free but have size limits before they start charging.
