Recently got a used Lumix LX100 took a few test shots ..
But Alas my Photoshop CS5 wont open them in Raw as they are RW2 files ..
GRRR .. I did all the updates on CS5 but still it wont work ..

I have read that CS5 is too old for RW2 files and can not be converted !!
What a Damm Nuisance !

Ive seen CC 2018 Photoshop discs on Ebay for £25 .. About $40 ..
Is this the only way out ?

What about My Tiffin Plug in I have on CS5 can that be transferred or do I have to buy a new one
of those as well ?

Perhaps I should stay with my trusty G11 and forget this Lumix nonsense !

Adobe DNG converter will probably allow the files to work. You can download that for free. Keep your original RAW files as the converter does strip out some of the exif data, if not all of it.

The other alternative is to use the Lumix software you get with that camera. Open the image and save it as a .tif file. The open the .tif in CS5. I don't know if ACR was available with CS5 or not. If it was, you can configure ACR to open .tif files.

CS5 really is ancient history!

CC is the Adobe CREATIVE CLOUD subscription service. You download the applications. They reside and run on your hard drive. Adobe notifies you when upgrades and updates (included in your subscription) are available, so you can keep up to date over the web, at all times.

You need to be running the latest versions of Windows 10 or Mac OS to use the Adobe CC apps.

You might want to look at Serif Affinity Photo, which has a 30-day free trial, costs $50 or less, and runs identically on Mac OS and Windows.

As for plugins, most will work with Photoshop and Lightroom, but check for updates on the manufacturers’ web sites.

I use CS5 with the dng converter. My newest camera is one of Nikon's newest. I did have to update my dng converter, but it is free and only took a couple of minutes.

As for CS5 being ancient, so am I. And, I can still get the job done.

According to Adobe's site, The Panasonic Lumix DMC Lx-100 RW2 image files require Camera Raw Version 8.7. That version is available in Lightroom 5 and later, Photoshop CS6 and later, and Photoshop Elements 13 or greater. As mentioned above, you can also download Adobe's DNG converter for free and still work with CS5 (although not as seamless as the other programs).

You might also want to save the following links for future reference:

CS5 is only able to support ACR 6.7, so I suppose, the Lumix requires a later update!

I use Win7 Pro 64 bit and the latest versions of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop without any issues. I don't use image sharing, and all my brushes and other subtle things are working fine.

Adobe announced their requirements for most of the NEXT versions of CC apps the other day.

https://theblog.adobe.com/upcoming-changes-to-creative-cloud-os-support-for-windows-and-mac/

It looks like Win 7 SP1 is supported, but version 8, 8.1, and older versions of Windows 10 are not. Mac OS 10.12 and later are fine, older versions are not.

I have a feeling CS6 will be too old as well as far as ACR is. Last version for CS6 was 9.1.1. And that was under Windows 10.

Lumix give a version of Silkypix with their cameras. You could develop the RAW before moving to your CS5.

SilkyPix is the best image quality raw converter for Lumix. I use it when I can’t get the effect I want from Lightroom/ACR.

The documentation is terrible, though. It’s the worst Jenglish/Japlish ever.

There is a full pro version of SilkyPix available as well. If I only read Japanese...

Get the free Adobe DNG converter if you still what to use CS5 for your processing. Otherwise I would recommend Affinity Photo. I personally use SC5 and Affinity together.

DNG converter never worked reliably or consistently for me in CS6. Forced me to get Photoshop CC which I mainly use to open Raw files. I use CC for other things too but I still prefer CS6 (and I teach Photoshop).

I use Elements, so that it can read my camera, it also has a better raw converter.
I can always save it into a photoshop document and open it in CS5 if I really need to.
But elements can do most of the work. It is not as good as the real photoshop, but it does serve most of my needs.
I used to use a DNG converter, but Elements looks to me as being the better way to open my RAW files.
