I know that the commercial was made by a Japanese company, but I am not comfortable with the stereotype. Am alone with this thought?

I wasn't going to look, but I did. I love the creativity. First laugh of the day.

Well, get comfortable. My wife is Japanese. She takes photos everyday. It is so common for Japanese to take pictures... everywhere.

After having lived in Japan for 10 years, I can tell you they would laugh at the commercial. It's a funny commercial.

It seems a lot of us are overly sensitive these days. So to you I say: "Shimpai shinai da yo!", which roughly translates to, "don't worry about it!"

A stereotype perhaps, but a positive one, and clearly presented in a non-serious, humorous manner. It is the negative stereotypes that I have an issue with.

If the Japanese have a stereotype of themselves that is just fine with me!

If an American company had made that and the baby had wire rimmed glasses and was squinting to focus the camera before taking the shot... then I'd have to agree it would be unacceptable.
