An interesting photo with good composition and really good B&W work. The guy on the far left nicely balances the scene and adds motion to an otherwise basically static situation.

Sue, see what happens when you crop from the right to just exclude the light switch nearest the main arch, and from the top to take off the head of the central figure in the arch top painting. I think a little shadow recovery helps the near seated figures.

It is my hope that they have googled the various artists related to the hanging artwork. I will admit, grudgingly, that those phones are lighter than the reference books we carried back when.

Hmmm ... cropping from the right definitely helps center things - those two paintings are a bit wonky. BTW - those aren't light switches, they are descriptive plaques. However, I would not crop from the top as it would impact that large painting which I feel is important to the overall aspect of the art gallery.

Nice shot! I really like the guy walking on the left and I like the scrap of paper on the floor. They really add to the human factor.

It all depends on whether you want it to be a gallery shot in which there are people, or about the people in a gallery. My attention goes straight to the large arch top painting, which I think negates the foreground figures. With the figure in motion entering the frame I feel the photo is about people, and it seemed that was your intention. IMO.

Nice one--Googling the artists, that’s what I was thinking. Or, maybe these three were just bored.
At any rate, nice shot.

While I agree that cropping the right side cleans up the shot, keep in mind that the title is "Surrounded by beauty". Cropping from the top down would cut out the "beauty" of the image and the context, leaving only a generic picture of people engrossed in their cell phones. Both elements are needed to tell the story.

BTW - one of this things I really like about this sub-forum is the exchange of ideas and criticisms and points of view. It is truly "iron sharpening iron" - very much appreciated!

Can't explain why, but I much prefer the uncropped version. Balance I guess. All the larger images was center and left on the cropped version.

I agree with you, Sue. Cropping from the top doesn't work. Great capture.
