Shooting last night, I thought I'd try some high ISO - like 10,000 - on my D750 with 28-300mm lens. Not bad.

True, I've shot up to 40,000 but for newspaper that prints with crap quality, but it still was not bad. if anything takes from this picture it's not the ISO but you shot it 1/15 sec which gave you motion blur. A faster shutter would have pushed up the ISO higher but it's easier to get noise out than blur. It's darn amazing what the 750 and high end sensors can handle noise. Too much emotion remaining from film days ASA 800 was a disaster.

Thanks for your comments. I was shooting at just about maximum aperture, and that was the fastest shutter speed possible without underexposing too much. I was using a 28-300mm lens, with 3.5 - 5.6 max aperture.

Nice shots Jerry, considering the light. The pictures convinced me to get out and see what my camera will do at 10,000 ISO. Thanks

I had the same thought. My own "challenge" of sorts.

Pretty good I say. I've never come close to shooting at 10,000. Gonna have to give it a try.

Not bad Jerry... the D750 did a good job. Not much you can do about motion blur when you are shooting moving subjects at 1/15 sec.
