And it seems that you have an unusual fear of people that you don't know.

Most problems can and should be solved without guns.....We're talking about photographers! Men and Women with cameras.

Now exactly why do you need to be armed to have dinner at Denny's ? They have already killed the food for you.

As for saying most folks don't get it.
Have you seen the increased level of mass shooting in our country over the past 5 years?
You angry guys are the most likely to snap and your armed!

Please don't thank God for your right to carry ....that is crazy! really crazy!
You think those victims and their family are thanking God for the second amendment?
Lets leave God out of this... please for the sake of those murdered by crazies with guns.

Now why do we liberals think your a bit off? How about the simple fact that this is a hobby photo site and we are sharing stories of Art photography and pretty photos.
You keep going back to guns and protecting yourself from strangers. You and you side arms are escalating issues that should be solved by words.
So how long have you been interested in Photography? What kind of camera do you have? Do you own a 3D printer?

You are the biggest and baddest UHH in the forum.
Why are you so afraid of people that you think you need to have a gun?
Do you meet more dangerous people than I do ....I live in a City.
Its got a high murder rate but the people are nice;-)
Do you need to be armed to the teeth to kill rabbi... (show quote)

Now where and why would you assume I was armed to the teeth? When on my ranch I generally carried a handgun, one of perhaps 50 I owned at the time. It could have been anything from a .22 revolver or semi auto all the way up to a 45 Colt, 454 Casull, or anything in between. If I was hiking I would have a handgun and a .22 rifle or maybe an 1892 Winchester in 32-20 caliber. If I was feeling particularly Western that day I might have had a Circa 1899 Colt Single Action Army, also in 32-20. I told you, did I not, that my place had rattlesnakes, lions and bears around on a regular basis. We also had our share of ground squirrels that were destructive to the soil. Coyotes were regularly present. I have no idea where you live but do you have any of these animals around on a regular basis where you can walk a trail and find a bear 25 feet from you or a rattlesnake at your feet? Probably not. Seldom if ever did I shoot these animals. I gave them their space until hunting season. But wasn’t it nice to have an option of safety if needed.

Why would you also assume I am afraid of people? I have a fire extinguisher in the house. I am not particularly afraid of fire but it is smart to be prepared isn’t it? Mi assume you wear seat belts. Is that because you have an abnormal fear of vehicle accidents? Why is my possession of firearms such a concern (fear) to you? I am not a violent person nor have I ever been. I doubt I will ever go bonkers and shoot up the countryside just as I assume you won’t jump in your car and mow down 75 pedestrians at 100 mph. I have spent more than 30 years in the USMC, LEO and in corrections, dealing with the worst inmates in the system. I have sure as hell had my share of threats from people I have arrested as well as inmates. I have a right to self defense of me and mine.

Where you live and your job status is your business but I doubt you spend much time in the darker areas of society. You even questioning my right to defend myself shows me you are of the Liberal mindset, preferring to call the police and let the government protect you rather than for you to man up and take care of your family yourself. As I used to tell victims of robbery, rape and felony assault, buy a gun and learn to use it. Take care of yourself. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

My cameras are a Nikon D800, Nikon FM, Leica M10 and M6 TIL with various lenses. I do have two 4X5 view cameras but haven’t used them yet. Of course I have owned Hasselblads and various other cameras and lenses over the years. No I have no 3D printer. Why on earth would I want one. Oh wait, I get it. You are just being an insulting ass type of Liberal.

I honestly feel sorry for you namby pamby types who accuse me of being fearful yet you are afraid of me who has served to protect your worthless pansy ass for over half my life.

Dennis

The ACLU has fallen into dogma, to favor popular social issues. Once, the ACLU stood for protection of civil rights under the U.S. Constitution. In my view, this organization has left behind its early guidance and its mission. This organization in effect has become anti-American. The ACLU does not put America first by supporting the law of the land. Instead, the ACLU obstructs the operation of the law in the name of this or that social issue. By its own action, the ACLU has discredited itself.

I have absolutely no animosity or hard feelings and pretty much go along with about everything you have said. But again, my only question is why you are explaining all of this to me. I have taught much of this to others over pretty much the past 40 years. I have lived in ranch country or farm country much of my 72 years. Yes we carried firearms, I still do. But that doesn’t mean we ever pointed the firearm in a threatening or menacing manner.

These days, however, I have seen tourists to the West who see someone in a restaurant carrying a handgun on their hip and they tend to get upset, as if the person is going to suddenly go berserk and shoot up the place. This happens even when there might be a LEO also sitting nearby. The fear some people have about firearms is one of those strange unexplained phenomena of psychological science.

The ACLU is a totally different conversation entirely. They are simply a Left Wing part of a Socialist type government that Democrats have been supporting for years. While they are supposedly looking out for civil liberties for all of us, they don’t recognize the 2nd Amendment at all. Like many of the Liberal mindset they go along with the laws they like which suit their agenda but ignore the rest.

So caring a gun makes you feel safe?
Nope. Good judgment makes you feel safe.
Smart decisions should make you feel safe.
Too much bad judgement in the world today

OK this is a photo site ....I really am done
Off to shoot photos on my side of the fence

You’re confused my friend. When a bad guy tries to kill me or my family, after a couple real loud sounds, I’ve made myself safe again.

That is my right to make myself safe.

I have a right to feel safe and back it up.

If you do not have the capacity, judgement and attitude, and unwilling to gain such, you should probably not carry.

Being a US Marine and certified firearms instructor I know these things intimately. I suggest a bad guy go elsewhere to enjoy his vile night out in society.

How do you make yourself safe..? Please provide some examples.

When out on a remote location for a model shoot, I’ll carry concealed. I’d hate for some illegal alien to attempt to hurt me or my model.

Quite right sir and Semper Fi. Thanks for your service.

When I owned close to 200 acres in CO I carried everywhere but carried always on my property. Not only two legged predators could be a threat but also rattle snakes, bears and mountain lions. There was also the usual presence of coyotes and feral cats which were shot on sight. Behind a few doors were loaded long guns, shotgun or AR style. Opening my door to the mud porch one night left me staring at a bear cub. Luckily he skedaddled before mama bear came to see what the baby was bawling about.

Neighboring ranchers felt the same as I did. While a few visited frequently and knew where some guns were, they would never have thought to touch them without permission.

Firearms definitely have a place in society. Thank God and the Constitutional framers for the 2nd Amendment.

I know this too but I don't know or ever heard of the eugenics part you spoke of. A lot of the USA has been becoming a socialist state these days which is very sad.

Read the history of PP. Margaret Sanger was incredibly racist. The democrat party has always been in favor of socialism or vote buying, whatever you want to call it.

Thanks now I know. As I said I have seen a lot of socialism forming since the end of Vietnam. The more we have social programs that give away money from the government treasury the more the country goes broke and the higher our taxes go. No one seems to catch on that socialism style programs are the downfall of a country like ours.

Great book on England. Leftists ruining things there. “Life at the Bottom”. Author Darypl (sp). Destitute poor white folks. Dems here depend on a permanent underclass too. Same strategy.

So Dennis
Why are you needing to be armed for lunch at Dennys?
Do you carry concealed when out for an evening of fine dining or when watching you Grand kids at the school play?
Seriously ....is it because you can? Or because it makes you feel safe ? Or because you need to?
Honestly educate me, your right I don't get it.....I would love to understand your "tough guy" attitude?
And it does seem to me that you are armed to the teeth because you are afraid of people.
Do you live in an area where most people are bad or out to hurt you?
Which may be true in other less stable parts of the world but not here in the US in 2018
Or are just carrying 24/7 for that one crazy that you might need to shoot?
I don't see the need and I worked in a high crime city area.

PS My family is safe without fire arms and I too Served my country.
But Thank You for your Service.

Don't you just love the feel of the Leica M in your hand .....me too.
Look we have something in common I'll bet there is more;-)
