I missed the Concurs d'Elegance Car Show here but I did make it to the zoo. A beautiful day but a lot of the animals I wanted did not cooperate for pics. I did get these but they took some light to medium Photoshopping. Let me know if they're too dark, too light, etc.
- Gray Crowned Crane
- South American Flamingo
- Some kind of strange amphibian
- Tree Frogs
- Another Frog
- A Young Chimp profile

Thanks

Didn’t go to the Zoo shoot because of the heat/humidity that weekend, but love what has been shared here and by Woodward camera store. I like the Flamingo & Chimp best. Great shots in this newbies opinion.

Wish I were near a zoo. Will try to remember the flash for dark backgrounds. Don't usually think of that in broad daylight. Superior shots. Would like to see a with and without comparison.

Great images. It looks like the zoo has improved dramatically since I visited as a kid. Your images are sharp (eyes) with composition and detail. I like the shadows on the head of the first picture because of the head feathers. It does look a little too much contrast. Excellent work!

Good job. Very sharp and crisp. I don't think they're too dark. I think they have nice contrast
which makes them pop!

My technique for shooting critters behind glass like the frogs is to get the macro lens up against the glass and the flash on a cord the same way and shoot at f22 and let TTL take care of the exposure. However, last week I was told not to use flash on some of the frogs who may be nocturnal. That would end future shots of the frogs from me with this technique. However, nothing was said about not using flash in the Reptile House. Using flash is also why the backgrounds go black too.
Thanks.

those nocturnal frogs probably think "Whoa, lightning; must be gonna rain!"

Exceptional. In my experience dark on the screen darker on the print. Probably depends on printer.
