Nikkor 28mm f/2.8, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4, Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 Macro and Nikkor 200mm f/4...all manual focus, all use the same filters and all made in limited runs in Japan except the 200mm. I almost dumped all these lens a while back, then along came the D850 and I am glad I have all of them.

Nikkon 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-G. Had been discontinued by the time I got one, so it was "dirt cheap". Barely bigger than my Niikor 50mm and only 50% heavier. Amazingly sharp over entire zoom range.

My Celestron orange tube, 70s vintage 8 inch classic telescope with fork and motor drive and perfect optics, at Goodwill for $29, yep, twenty nine dollars.

I picked up an AF Nikkor 35-105 f/3.5-4.5 lens at a thrift shop for $59. It’s my everyday lens on my film Nikon FE and works fine on my D7100 also. Solid sharp lens for a great price. And it will do fine if I ever upgrade to digital full frame.

Trunk full of Minolta and Sony lens from wide to tele (mostly zooms) bought for $10 - 65 each, shelf full of Tokina, Tamron and Sigma big tele prime & zooms (300's, 400's, 80-400, 28-200, 28-300, etc.) $25 - 75 each, and now a new shelf for Nikon AF/AF-S gear - AF-S 18-55ED VR, 55-200ED VR, 55-300ED VR, AF 35-135 Macro (a new favorite-heavy sucker), 70-210 D, 75-240, 70-300 ED VR - from $15 - 65 (except for the 55-300 ED VR was $75). Yes I have a fair amount of duplication, and the sale of the extras will make me back at least what I spent (plus $$ on some/many), and I get to play with all of them and pick and choose (fun). The 18-55VR was free as it arrived with a broken mount and seller just refunded, I put a new mount on it for $6.00 and it works flawlessly. I have not bought a (new-in the box) lens since the late 90's, and have a bunch of lens I love....picking the ones to sell will be the hardest part, unless I just keep them!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I have a hard time with an all time favorite...too many choices.

Years ago, in the ancient days of film and dark rooms, I got a Sears enlarger lens at a garage sale. It was amazingly sharp and it only cost me 3 dollars.

My favorite lens is a Nikon 16mm f2.8 ai-s full frame fisheye. It was in excellent condition and only $35. My employer sold it to me as a bonus. After 25 years it still takes beautiful pictures.

An older Olympus 70-300 in the 4/3 mount that I use with an adapter to micro 4/3 on my EM1 Mark ll. Really sharp all the way out to 300mm.

Yup, you know the secret! I got the 4/3s 50-200 and 12-60 for a song, work great on my em-1, one simple adapter and I was in business, less than 1/4th the price of comparable set ups.
Oh and I paid $20 on CL for a Nikon FE-2 with 50 f1.4.
Cheap cheap go the birdies

Back in the day, a Minolta MD-Rokkor 50mm f/1.4 that was on a Minolta x-700 with motor drive that I bought for $150.00 at a pawn shop in Tuscaloosa, AL. The camera was no better or no worse than any other camera of its genre but that lens was razor sharp. Would almost go back to using film just to use this lens if someone hadn't stolen it and the camera out of my car.

Mid-1960s 55mm f/3.5 Micro Nikkor. A college chum found it on a New Jersey beach and gave it to me in 1974. I sent it to EPOI (now Nikon, Inc.), and they were able to CLA it. It’s worked well ever since!
