Just cancelled my comp & collision and this happened.

Darn Bambi! At least I didn't get hurt and airbags didn't go off. Driver's side door won't open. Taking it in to body shop hoping it won't hurt the pocketbook too much.

Its like i keep telling people. Until the insurance cost more than a replacement vehicle its best to keep full coverage.

Looks like you hit an animal. Once repaired, then reinstate the comp, it’s less expensive, and most carriers will not raise rates with an incident. Plus you can have a lower deductible without too much of a hit to pocketbook. As for collision you should reinstate that as well. However, here increasing the deductible can keep premiums lower, and you’ll be protected. Example, I have a major company St Farm, I have a 18 yr old vehicle that has a approx value of 4500 left. My comp has a 50.00 deductible, and collision is 1500.00 deductible, and my rates are under 60.00 month. Just food for thought. (I’m an auto claims handler)

Paying for insurance in Michigan is tough, but not as tough as not having it when needed. Good luck with your repairs.

That's why I buy and keep a "beater"car. Minimum insurance and for $1,500 a copy insurance premiums put in bank for if it dies and I have been coming out ahead. For travel nothing beats my Jeep Grand Cherokees for comfort and ability to see a narrow dirt beat up side road and we just take them with no worries ever.

I hit a fawn in VT while going to college and the state paid for the repairs. Check with your state.

Not in PA. The state would go broke with the hundreds or even thousands hit every year.
