Does anyone know of a monopod that doubles as a walking stick. Preferably carbon fiber?

What would you need in a walking stick that would rule out any monopods?

A wrist strap, and possibly a head that I could put my hand on.

I bet it wouldn't be too hard to find something to attach to the 14" screw.

Here's one. http://www.amazon.com/Promaster-Monopod-Walking-Stick-Black/dp/B001S3O450

I got mine a from Walmart a couple of years ago. Nothing fancy but does the job. It has a screw off knob on top for use while walking, or possibly self defense. And only $20. Last time I looked, they were still in stock. I have looked at some of the more expensive units costing 10 times as much, and I am not seeing the value in them.

I do and mine is aluminum, I had a real problem with it. One day I was out taking pictures and had my Nikon D-90 mounted in it. The metal "neck" with the 1/4 on it snapped right in the middle and the camera fell to the ground braking my Tamron 18-270!. The company stood behing it and repaired both the lens and the monopod. Also with a full size camera, it is very unsteady when you fold the legs out to use it as a "tripod". Sways back and forth. Wouldn't really recommend it for anything other than a small camera. A good monopod is a better choice.

Thanks for the input. I should have added that I want enough weight capacity to support a d800 with 70-200 lens. I don't have these yet, but hope to move up to them.

I've made a few walking sticks in the past and drilled a hole for a 1/4-20 stud on the top. Can't retract but it comes in handy from time to time. Good for a little point & shoot to hold up over a crowd too. The one drawback I see with these inexpensive walking stick/monopods is there is no ballhead so you can't tilt the camera.

I have a vanguard and love it. It will handle the heaviest lines without snapping and it takes all the abuse, I can give it. Also steady as a rock!
