Nikon's P1000 Bridge Camera has been announced. We all knew the popularity of the P900 on this forum, that was 83X, having a focal range to 2000mm. Its one drawback is that it only shot JPEG. This successor will be a 125X lens, 3000mm focal range, 4K Video, and 16 megapixels, and will shoot RAW. The lens will begin at F2.8, with an ISO range to 25,600. I predict this will be a hot seller for Nikon. You can pre-order this camera for $997 from B&H Photo Shop. Or other shops.
Rumours were pretty accurate then!
The only guess that I know was wrong is that the sensor would be 20Mp.
I love the P900 but I'll wait a while before I purchase the P1000 to allow the bugs to be sorted out and the price to drop.
I guess it could be a couple of years.
Good news though.
This is indeed, a monster. Specs show that it has up to 4x digital zoom, and 2x in dynamic fine zoom (apparently equivalent to Sony's clear image zoom). That would give it 6000mm in CIZ, and up to 12000mm in regular digital zoom! Talk about putting the moon in your back yard!

COnsidering the Sony RX100M6 is $1200, I don't think Nikon had to drop prices at all n the P1000.

In the past after the initial rush to have the latest camera is over, I found that in order to revive sales a price drop normally happens.
With this camera it may take a year.
Similarly I think the P900 will have a price drop when the P1000 is readily available in order to sell them off.
This camera weighs 3.1 pounds, with battery and memory card, and has a projected release date of September 2018.
I agree, drag. The P900 has continued to sell well since its intro, and the initial sales price has also held up well. So all you "would be" P900 owners may finally get your wish.
