I saw something on my lawn ...
... and it was alive! I got the tripod set low and laid down on the wet grass to look through the viewfinder. Then the lightbuld went off in my head. The D500 has live view and a tilting touch screen. What a pleasure.
Aw...what a special treat! Wonderful shot!

Like how you got back ground and front ground blurred out , were you wide open
Nice shot. Did it fall from it's nest? It doesn't look like it's quite ready to fly.
Nice shot, Bill.... what a cutie!!
Nice picture cute youngster.
Thanks folks for checking out my baby.
I was shooting wide open (5.6) and at only slightly above eye level with the bird.
I do believe it fell out of a nest across the street from me. From the time I spotted it on my lawn and took the picture it had hopped/jumped about 35 feet closer to my house. Once the baby and a parent started chirping back and forth I went in the house and watched. Food was on it's way and I didn't want to disturb that.

Cute little thing. Hope it made it back to the nest, but I wonder...

Thanks. I'm glad I was able to get the shot when I did.

I doubt that, if you don't do it fairly soon after there grounded, the parents will feed it tell it can fly a bit .or a cat will get it
