I recommend B&H and as far as insurance goes, check with your renters or home owners, they may have an additional high value policy for cameras. It's cheaper then you may think.

Found a new camera store on internet located in N.J. called Abe' s of Maine. Need your opinion about this company. According to the website has been around since 1979 and is cheaper than B&H on Camera Equipment. My other son wants to spend over $10,000 on Camera Equipment and found a Sony a7rii for $500.00 cheaper at Abe's vs B&H. I know the old saying you pay for what you get. Abe's is also selling a 6 year drop replacement policy 100% $599.99 Sounds too good to be true. This is wht l am asking before he spends his hard earn cash and gets what he pays for!

I just opened up the Hog this morning and see that you have gotten many replies to your post already, but I will add my 2¢ to the mix. Stay away from Abe's of Maine. You will not be a happy shopper if you do purchase from them. They are one of the kings of bait and switch, selling gray market items, substituting cheaper items for items that come with a camera, etc. You said it yourself, "it sounds too good to be true", and you know what, IT IS. Stay away.... do not throw away your hard earned money or your son's to them. Buy from refutable dealers such as B&H, Adorama, Cameta Camera, and there are other good vendors as well.

You asked for advice, so hopefully you and your son will take the advice you have been given.... Stay away from Abe's of Maine.... Do not buy from them!

My son loves that store and wouldn't shop anywhere else. I have never done business with them myself.

Just Google and you will see some criticism. I only know they have a bad rep.
I googled them and only look at the first page looked bad.
I believe "abes" is in Brooklyn.
If you are spending a serious amount of money you cant take big chances. 5 or 10% is not worth it.
If you ever have ordered and found that new camera appeared used you don't want that experience.
Or it is not the US version. Amazon (believe it or not they will take anything back) B&H etc. are
solid. Good luck

Back in the days before internet, I bought at least two SLRs and a couple of lenses from Abe’s, via tha phone. I never had a problem, and they were always helpful. I’m sorry to hear they’ve fallen to such lows, according to many posts here.
