Any thought on which one is better?
I'll pick Capture One over Lightroom, I'll pick Affinity over both, Luminar is to have a new one out in a few days, wait till then, it might beat them all.
Really depends on your definition of "beat them all" is. If your image processing software is competitive in the market place, does what you need and want it to do, is reasonably priced, and is supported, does it matter which one you've chosen? Sounds like someone is just looking to start a spirited debate, which has no reasonable chance of reaching any conclusions.
Lightroom Classic without a doubt. You can use Luminar, On1, Topaz, Affinity, and others as plugins to Lightroom. Capture One is better for tethering but it ends there, in my opinion.

Use many of them regularly, including Capture One 11 (recent upgrade), Lightroom, Cs6, etc. Each one has its advantages. Like a toolbox, use the right tool at the right time, for the right job.

I don't have Capture One but I think I can make a general statement. There are easily a dozen good PP programs on the market. Each one of them probably can do one particular type of edit better than the others. There is no one program that does everything better than all of the others. What you have to decide is which program fits the editing needs that you like to do. Personally, I use LR6 for editing color/contrast; I use ON1 or Topaz Remask (plugged into ELEMENTS 12) to make masks, and I use ELEMENTS 12 to create images or to make things disappear. These programs fill my needs; now think about yours.

They are different although they both can develop a raw file to generate a JPEG, TIFF, etc. Neither is clearly superior in that respect.
Lightroom forces you to use their catalog and that can get you into trouble if you delete or move files without going through Lightroom. Adobe requires that you update your program to accommodate a new camera.
With Capture One, the catalog is optional and the Session approach gives you full control of backups and file transfers and it lets you use multiple computers easily.
I'm prejudiced but the biggest advantage I see in Capture One is that it is not from Adobe.

I have used both Lightroom and Capture One. Anything you do in Lightroom you can do in Capture One. Anything you can do in Capture One (with the exception of layers), you can do in Lightroom. The best one is the one you know how to use best.
Some people use multiple applications to edit their photos. They have invested a
lot of time to learn how to use those applications effectively.
Both are equally as good, my personal preference is LightRoom Classic CC in that Capture One can be used as a plugin, best of both worlds. With LR every other processing program will work as a plugin and you have the ability to use PS straight out of LR. For Capture One everything including layers can be accomplished within one program however if you need something other than that particular program in your workflow then you have to save the image and then take it into another software preference. I take advantage of the abilities to use any processing in my workflow so a typical flow would be LR, PS, Plugins (On1, Skylum, Topaz, NIK), PS for fine tunes and back into LR for final tuning/saving. So, to keep it simple go with the product that gives you the most latitude and that would be the Adobe suite. Good luck and have some fun while doing it.
Strickly from a studio situation tethering your images, CaptureOne is the clear winner for speed and features. LightRoom still works well but it will quickly appear to have few options when tetherinng comparitively. I still edit with LR/PS but indoors using strobes/monolights, CaptureOne is my only choice.

CO is a great program. If use Sony, CO is the most efficent program. Sony released "Imaging Edge" in December, and gives you many sliders and no auto choices.

My vote would be for Lightroom Classic CC above anything else. Best of luck.

Just choose one and invest the effort to use it properly.
I have both - CO 11.1 and the last LR 6, and prefer CO by far. It has very powerful color engine, better local adjustments, and is much faster. I never got used to LR sluggish brush performance on an 8-core 4Ghz Intel with professional grade graphics card.
