Has anyone ever posted or seen on UHH a jpg that doesn't display in thumbnail view? I pm'd admin about it, but that was four days ago and the pm still shows unread.

The poster said the image was uploaded from a pc after being edited in PS Elements. I'll provide the link in next entry. Many thanks!

Yes, exactly, therein lies the question - why don't they?

I'm inquisitive.
Hope an answer is posted here.

There's an upper file size limit on UHH that can prevent thumbnails from being created. I export from LR @ 3000 pixels on the long edge, which is iOS Retina resolution, and have never had a problem.

I though someone said that the thumbnails are created, reduced in size, from the image uploaded.
Maybe there is a limit?

dumping the EXIF from the first of the linked images, I believe this is another colorspace issue:

Color Mode : RGB
Color Noise Reduction : 25
Color Noise Reduction Detail : 50
Color Noise Reduction Smoothness: 50
Color Space : Uncalibrated
Color Space Data : RGB

The first is 8 MB. I've seen larger. But just now I opened in an online app called befunky.com, which I belatedly remembered strips the exif when doing a 'save as.' It shows up in thumbnail in my preview!

I don't know if that made the color space now "OK" for UHH or if there was some other corruption. I'll alert the photographer, though. Thanks all!

Lets see. I re-saved it as jpg sRGB colorspace and will upload.

So, the only thing I did was Save Legacy jpg and made sure sRGB colorspace was used.

Yep. Sometimes a little computer knowledge is required. Especially by people that manage or provide advice on UHH posts.

I can see the thumbnail that jeep_daddy posted.
Looks like maybe sRGB was the issue?

Admin replied to my pm last night and said may have had more than one ICC profile, so "the forum software doesn't try to create a thumbnail while guessing which one to use and instead simply stores the original file."

Many thanks to Chg Canon and jeep_daddy!
