The waterfalls I visited all around Brevard and points west were so crowded! We were at most of them mid morning and I will never return unless midweek and very very early. This was a week ago.
Live in Brevard Transylvania county land of waterfalls
try Dupont Forest or Pisgah Forest for waterfalls while
in asheville must go to the Chuhuli glass exhibit at
Biltmore estate also plenty of great views all over

My wife and I will be going to Asheville in mid July. We want to take some day trip so what are your suggestions. I'd like to photograph some waterfalls but would also like to explore the area.
Any and all suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Foggy Mountain Brew Pub for great food!
Just had a conversation with a friend last night concerning the Chihuly Exhibit. Seems the glass sculptures were pretty damaged by our recent thunderstorms and flooding. That's gonna cost 'em to repair!
I agree with visiting Mt. Mitchell. It is a beautiful ride up with many scenic overlooks and you can hike the last bit if you like. I also enjoyed the 40 minute hike up Mt Pisgah. I did these hikes with my SONY NEX-7 Mirrorless. DrJ
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a couple of miles from downtown. If you want to shoot a sunset, you can go north to Craggy Gardens, park, take the trail to left of parking area about 150 yards and at shelter take trail to left 50 yards and you will be on a bald and look west to see mountains and sunset (weather permitting). Also, there are paperback photography books and waterfall books of the area that are inexpensive that show waterfalls, location, distance to hike once get there, etc. There are easy to access waterfalls at DuPont Forest, west of Asheville and an hour west is the Great Smokey Mountain National Forest. Asheville is a beer “Capital” of USA in case you like. Have fun!
Dupont State Forest has a number of waterfalls around five or so. IMHO they are some of the best in NC (you cannot beat triple falls). Also Linville falls is stated as the most popular falls in NC they are really nice as well. Both of these would be an excellent choice. Both have trails that are moderate or less so good for most ages. I live in NC and have hiked quite a bit on the blue ridge parkway and Appalachian trials. Good luck!
