This is a "simple" answer to THAT question =

The Learning Process.

If it where not for that, I would have quit photography my first ten years into it.

Started shooting 69 years ago, ''was'' a great hobby, turned it into a business, ''ruined'' a great hobby. After 25 years in the business, retired and began to turn photography back into a ''great hobby.'' Took 4 years, 2 cameras, a new computer, printer, some lenses, but I now again consider it a "GREAT HOBBY". Take note all you Photographers, the UHH has been a great help in that process. The few, who choose to be negative on here, can eat sh-t and die. The other 99.9% on here, 'bless you all,'' keep your lens clean and keep posting pictures. This is the best forum going !!!!! Sorry for the rant.

I realize these things mentioned are ancillary to photography, but then so are batteries.

You're not paying for the video capability. Not really.

Not being able to carry my camera with me all day and every day to take that special moment or shot when it presents it's self.
Also not lucky enough to be able to visit and shoot pictures from all the Beautiful locations around the world that I see from the other photographers and capture those awesome images.
Time flies and I don't but I will sure give it a shot from here on out!!! It only takes one good shot or Image to last a life time...

What I like least is the batteries for my three cameras cost $180.00 each. And having a backup for each camera.

Obviously, I dislike perfect pictures.
Why else would I take so few of them?

So size doesn't matter anymore?

Of course it does!
My wife always complains about my equipment being too big and heavy.

Well, my photography equipment anyway.

Settings on my camera's. I use mostly Sony gear now and the menu's are awful. And complicated. So many options.
If you are into video their are so many neutral movie shooting options and so many controls it is mind boggling.

LOL.
That is so true. I am a member of several FaceBook discussion groups and almost everyone has a watermark on their photo. Many of them detract from the photo

A good point and shoot, like my Canon PowerShot SX720 HS, that does NOT have a capability to shoot RAW images. Heck, my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S8) does!!!

I have a number of deal-breakers on a camera. RAW, viewfinder, hot-shoe are at the top. It's amazing the number of bridge cameras that lack one or more of these.
