I’m new to the light room/photoshop world, and scared to death. Is there a training program for these programs? I’ve never used editing programs, but my plan is to add music to videos, and to edit my photos to get more professional products. What do you all suggest?

Scott Kelby has a couple of books that I’ve found very useful/helpful.

Look up www.CreativeLive.com - lots of training classes there. Many offered free each week.

Take courses, including online. They are organized with a plan, a goal, a beginning and an ending. Anything else is random learning and you'll go in circles.

If you agree, I'll make some suggestions.

If indeed you are interested in video, you'll need another piece of software. The one I use works well with Lightroom.

Yes, LR can seem intimidating at first, but soon comfort happens. You just learn one thing at a time and it begins to make sense. I used Julienne Kost, very helpful at first. Kelby can be a little too much at first, but is excellent when you get a some experience. In addition to Kost, check out The Lightroom Queen (https://www.lightroomqueen.com/)...she has a good, free introductory e-book. Watch the video by Laura Shoe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-jxu7Vk5EA. It gives an excellent overview of what LR can do and is only 8 minutes. It won't teach you HOW to use LR but it will help a lot in understanding WHAT it does, which I found to be an important first step.

It is a generous list. But, for starting, you need to pick one source of organized teaching and learning. In other words a course!

Then take 20 photos and manage them in Lightroom. When ready, move on to more.

Adobe has very good short instructional videos at tv.adobe.com. There is also Victoria Brampton, The Lightroom Queen - and many others.

Basically, you go down the right column, moving the sliders to get the picture right. there are about a million other things you can learn about LR, but basic adjusting is the main use of the program.

There are lots of free sets of videos on youtube. Anthony morganti(mu favorite) Julianne Kost are just two. Find one and stick with them as they to develop a specific workflow. Not that one is better than another, but switching from one to another can be confusing as they have a building block effect. As for books, fine, but seeing the edit is a hell of lot better than reading about it.
