My wife and I have decided to travel extensively in retirement. In the last several years we have been to Australia, New Zealand, China, south East Asia, Peru and Ecuador. This year we will visit Cuba and an African safari. On each of these trips I normally take 3 to 500 photos. When I get home I use Photomechanic to quickly review them and I typically transfer about 150 to Lightroom for editing and often a few into Photoshop for manipulation. The question that I have is what do most folks do with these pictures. Asking family and friends to sit around and look at 150 or more of your favorite photos seem quite intrusive. I have started to generate coffee table books using Lightroom Blurb or Apple books and this seem to be working. Any other ideas.

I also make photo books from our travels. That way, anyone who wants to look at them can to whatever extent they want, or they can choose not to. I enjoy looking at them. And I figure they will be useful to me when I am in memory care.

...good info! I use DB for dealing with professional stuff with colleagues so haven't delved into the link method...that would be fine, but I'm *really* good with Google Photos. Try it!

Thanks. I will look at it.

I'm late to the party, and I'm sure you already have lots of replies to your question...

I have an account at Flickr.com, and after reviewing my vacation photos and selecting enough to adequately show the area we visited, I upload them to Flickr and put them into an album for that location. We recently returned from a Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Venice, and I uploaded photos for Barcelona, Marseille/Cassis, Monte Carlo/Nice, Livorno/Pisa, Naples, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Split and Venice. I then send links to the individual albums to any friends I think might be interested.

I use PowerDirector software to assemble videos of my photos, video clips, information, add music, and post them to YouTube. Mention on FB I have uploaded a new one and family or friends can view or not at their convenience and everything is easy to remember 5 or 10 years down the line.

I Facebook representative images for family,, do Gurushots and Viewbug contests, print out a few for myself. The contests keep me reviewing past images and I sometimes find overlooked gems. I also belong to the local small art association and display a few at their gallery every quarter. I have no fantasies of making money. It is purely hobby for me.

I use Nikon Image Space sometimes. It's very easy to manage. Upload images to the site, create a link to those photos, and send the link to those who you consider may be interested. Then they can view the photos at their leisure or not.
I especially like to use this method for the photos I take at family functions and then send the link in a group e-mail. Very simple!

I've always liked the slideshow feature in Windows when the computer goes into screen saver mode. I keep picking different file folders every now and then to mix up the show. Since I don't turn my computer off, I get a nice 28" screen of places we've been to rolling along. Brings back smiles from the events.

I too use the screen saver slide show. I have it set to the photos root directory, so it's always a different set of images. Some I haven't seen in a long time.

Put them in albums using Flickr or Google Photos or Facebook. Send them out to friends and family. They are of course free to just delete.

My Dad used to do narrated slide shows fo friends and neighbors after his vacations. People actually asked when he'd hold one when he would return home. I still have a transcript from one he did after a Southwest trip. I also have the slides, so one of these days I should make a narrated YouTube video of his show. I might even have a tape of the accompanying lecture.

Mine would more likely be marketed as a sleep aid😪

Get an electronic frame. I have one my kitchen counter running 24x7. Many times, images are being displayed from events and locations I've nearly forgotten about until seeing the images again.
I really like this idea. Use to have one in my office in my home doing that years ago but when it went dead never replaced. Thanks for inspiring me to get a new one.

I make photo books like you do. I stream them to my television when we have gatherings and have music playing in the background since the t.v. comes on when the receiver is on.

I have half a dozen photographs of my dad and less of my mother. They passed decades ago; I have no idea what they liked to do, where they went, who they went with and how they felt about it. I've promised my own children I'd never do that to them. They love the books, and since I've become a decent photographer, it gives them access to a part of my life they never thought existed. And, it gives me great pleasure to see how I've progressed over the years.
