I purchased this lens to use on my sony a6000 i got it today am really blown away with the shapness and contrast of it. WOW best lens i have.

I had one but my eyes have gone south and I depend on auto focus now. You're right, if any of the readers of this are looking for a great bargain lens, this fits the bill

DO NOT use this lens on a Nikon digital body. It is “non - ai” and will damage the mount.

I have a 1967 copy that was bought in Japan. It is single coated. I had it AI converted and I use it occasionally for portraits and as a short tele. It is an excellent performer.

I have and use the original version. It was AI modified by a friend. FANTASTIC lens.

Non-Ai lenses work fine on a Df. They won’t physically mount on other Nikon DSLRs, so the only possibility of damage is if one is foolish enough to try and force it.

Thanks i bought to use on sony with adapter as well as 24m f 2.8 and 50mm f1.4 i wanted to have something better than the kit lens. for the same money. i like shooting manual because i feel it is the best way to learn light and the camera. will use new af lens on the d7000. Thank you again i wouldnt want someone to damage there camera eather.

I still have a 55mm f/3.5 Micro Nikkor Non-AI. GREAT lens.
I have a 24mm f/2.8 that was converted to AI. I’ve never liked that lens. I once (teen years) had a cheap Vivitar that was much better.
My favorite film lenses were AI Nikkors from the early 1980s. Solid, multi-coated, rubber grips, sharp. I had 24mm f/2.8 (the good one), 35mm f/2, 55mm f/2.8 Micro (macro), 85mm f/1.8, 105mm f/2.5, 80-200mm f/4.

I borrowed one from a friend some thirty or so years ago and liked it so much that I immediately got one for myself even though there was a newer version available (I got it to use on my Nikkormat FtN). They may end up having to bury me with that lens (and possibly the Nikkormat) in my hand.
