I have BitDefender for Windows on MY computer, but I think I need to get something for my wife's MacPro. I'm interested in something that is constantly running that will check sites as they are logged into as well as running regular system checks.

For no cost, take a look at Avast. Configurable with several scans you can set up as well as webshields, fileshields and mailshields. It is also subscribeable for additional benefits.

I have been using free Avast on my Mac for several years. Every now and then I take a look at other programs, but always stay with Avast.

I didn't know they made it for Mac. However, free sounds good if it works!!!

Does it just do scans or does it do constant monitoring which BitDefender does?

Avast free does constant monitoring as well as on demand and scheduled scans, configurable by the user.

Last I looked at a free Bit Defender on a Mac was it only did on demand scans, not constant or automated scheduling.

I was using a version of Norton from Comcast on my Mac, but it had issues remembering exclusions I added in, and found no viruses or malware ever on my system, yet when I ran Avast for the first time it found a malware issue. It also has kept my exclusions after several updates and virus definition updates as well.

FYI....My BitDefender subscription allows me to put it on five devices. I didn't know I could put it on an OS device since I had a PC, but I called support and they sent me an email with instructions. I loaded it and found 24 problems including 4 Trojans. The computer is running much better now.
