They bring back some memories. from the late 70s. We went through this area twice returning to California from summer trips to my home town in Kentucky. The first time we took the old Trail Ridge Road up to the high point and then down to Utah. A 4 cylinder Subaru station wagon, 2nd gear gas on the floor and 35 mph with bigger cars passing us like we were parked. Then later we passed some of them on the side of the road with steam rolling out from under the hood. But the little 4WD just kept chugging up the road.
The second year we camped in Glacier Basin Campground. When the sun went down the ghost of the glacier came back. We zipped the sleeping bags together and climbed in together, boots and all.

I lived in Conifer for years, until I got tired of fires. Moved down to Firestone. But I do have my lifetime Park pass. With all the rain lately is there new snow?

Yeah, I had a boogie bag. I was at 8,600 ft, above Conifer. It was nice. I miss the night skies. I don't miss the 30 minute drive to the store, fire, and snow. I am thinking of heading for Silver City, New Mexico. Colorado is home, but it has become way too crowded.
