Unfortunately, I didn’t notice that I had not received a cover for the flash before it was too late to complaint to B&H.
The BS-3 hotshoe cover is not included with the D850. You have to buy it separately for $9.95.

Apparently Nikon is playing some kind of game with its U.S. customers. Outside the U.S., the D850 is readily available... so much so, overstock is exported to the U.S. market and sold as grey market product. I suspect this artificial scarcity of the D850 on the U.S. market is Nikon's strategy to keep demand and price high.
You need a basic education on how gray market works.
I ordered a D850 from B&H as a Christmas present to myself, ordered it around Dec 13th; had it in my hands in less than five weeks! Have fun when ya get it. I have been having fun using older Nikkor manual prime lenses, lenses I have had since my film days over twenty years ago or longer. Those old primes do very nicely on a D850, at least for me.
Berger Brothers Camera in New York, very reputable dealer. Ordered mine a few weeks ago, had it in about 10 days. USA Model. I found them highly regarded on the Nikonians website. Ask for Brad Berger, and tell them you got wind of them through Nikonians. Worked for me!! Good Luck. Don't have the number handy, just google it. ETA: Found the number (516) 496-1000

I doubt it. If they had the product they would fill all the orders at the current prices. As for holding back U.S. shipments, my guess is that they have long standing contracts with distributors around the world that they must live up to, even if those customers are not clamoring to get their hands on the latest and greatest.
The reviews and awards attributed to the D850 are enough to keep the prices up.

Right on, Bill. This from DP Review Newsletter:
Nikon Corporation has released financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31st 2018, and the news is good. Thanks to strong sales of the D850 and some restructuring measures paying off, the company reported an 8x increase in overall profit despite a slight drop in revenue.
As PixelStan77 said, have patience. You will get a legitimate D850.

I have been in the list at B&H and Adorama, just like a lot of other folks. Everyone once in awhile I will search the net, and guess what I found today. 3 places, had in stock, Nikon D850.
42ndstreet photo, which we all know is not the most honest place.
abesinmaine, which again is not the best in the world
And then I ran across this place, had never heard of it Dealsoftheyear.

Now of course, the old if its too good to be true, it most likely isn't. All 3 have the import model. You have to dig a bit to find that. 1 year warranty, 30 days parts, by seller.
Wish Nikon would kick it into overdrive.
"waiting on the D850 in Olympia" ...lol
I have been in the list at B&H and Adorama, ju... (

Contact Camita Camera, I had mine in a week. It is a U.S model, no problem
I got mine from Best Buy in pretty short order, at the same price as B&H. Loving the new body.

Patience!!! When it arrives, all will be forgotten about the wait.
Enjoy your new camera in good health (when you get it!!) GAS can be very painful, at times.
