So here's the deal: I have rented a Zeiss ZF.2 100mm f/2 Makro-Planar for my D200. I want to see if there is really that much difference in the lens.
The plan is to go to the local baseball game (Cardinals AAA affliate), sit down the third base line and shoot away. With a 100mm prime, I am hoping homeplate, third base, short stop and left field are all within the "range" of the lens.
So what's the problem? It just started raining !!! Memphis is 15" behind in rainfall this year; and, it just had to rain on my big experiment.
ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
Well the good news is that it is only 30% chance between now and 7:00 p.m.! Hope they are wrong after that!!! Good luck!

Here I was thinking of your concern about the camera, lens, and rain. Then I realized that they don't play in the rain!
I don't think 100mm is a long enough focal length for what you want to do.
