Is there any general rule of thumb for shooting the night sky with film? What I would like to do is use a 50mm 1.1 voigtlander with 50 or 100 ISO film, set to infinity, and expose for some period of time. What I want is a night landscape with stars for atmosphere. I have never tried this before. Thank you for any suggestions.

Try this for exposure: ISO 100 22 seconds at f2.8, but that is an exposure for a full moon landscape.

If I went back to film, I'd sure waste a lot of pictures.
