Copied from the SIRUI wedsite:
"SIRUI USA strongly recommends that you only purchase SIRUI products from authorized SIRUI USA dealers. As the exclusive distributor of SIRUI products, SIRUI USA guarantees that all products are new, complete and have a full warranty. SIRUI products purchased from unauthorized dealers will not receive the 6-year USA warranty, technical support, service or parts and will be ineligible for rebates and special promotions. You can see the full list of authorized SIRUI USA dealers here."
B&H and CAMETA CAMERA (and others) are listed as authorized dealers - ADORAMA is not. It does appear to be a strange situation.

Let me start out by saying that of the major photography vendors, Adorama has always been my goto prior to this incident. And I'm not saying that they won't be in the future, but.... well, read on. On Apr 27th, I ordered a Sirui T-2205X tripod from Adorama through Amazon. Prior to placing the order, I went to Adorama's website and investigated the tripod a little more since the sale was through them and not actually sold by Amazon. The price was very competitive and I saw from the product page on Adorama's website that there was a 6-year Sirui warranty. It was shipped directly from Adorama and arrived in only 3 days. After examining it, I requested and received an invoice from Adorama, necessary for product registration, which I did online via the Sirui website. Lo and behold, yesterday, I received an email from Sirui stating that Adorama is not an authorized-seller of Sirui products and the note further suggested that I return the product and purchase from an authorized seller to receive warranty coverage. I immediately went to the Adorama website and went into chat mode. Chat is with a sales representative and he/she acknowledged a lack of knowledge about the issue but agreed from their webpage that a 6 year factory warranty is more than just implied. As suggested by chat, I then called Adorama customer service and explained my concern. He asked if there was a problem with the tripod and I said, "no, I expected the warranty, which apparently isn't available because you aren't an authorized seller?" I then told him about the email I had received and I think he sounded genuinely surprised, especially after I read the email to him. He then asked that I forward the Sirui email to him and that he would personally look into the situation and get back to me within two days, which is COB tomorrow, May 9th. Wouldn't you think that a major photography merchandise seller would know if it's an authorized seller or not? I hope this all gets resolved favorably or else, the tripod simply gets returned. I know due diligence is the buyer's responsibility, but this was (still is) a complete surprise. I'll follow up later with what happens .....

"what happens" First of all if this is true. find out who is an authorized dealer. Hard to think they are not. If this is your must-have tripod. Return it and get a replacement from an authorized dealer.

That certainly is an odd situation, and I think it's odd that Sirui wouldn't give you the warranty after you showed them proof that you bought it. Maybe it's a gray market Sirui. : )

I recommend you send it back, and buy from an authorized dealer. That way you will be confident that the warranty will be valid.

You may well need that warranty. Twist locks have a tendency to self destruct, especially if they get dirty. I had to have the center column on one of my Sirui tripods replaced; I sent them the jammed up column; they sent me a replacement. Note, I also had a Benro slip lock self destruct; got the parts from them without an issue. In my experience, the big names are very good about providing repair parts.

Yet another dirty laundry post BEFORE the company has had a CHANCE to resolve the issue. BAD FORM, REALLY BAD FORM.

Don't know where you heard that but it must have been about some other vendor. Adorama has some of the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE, bar none, both in my own personal experiences and from what I read on here. Adorama is in MY list of the VERY BEST retailers! (Now, I'n neither employed by them or a family member, just a long standing customer!)

Amen, and in complete agreement.

Hey, 47, sorry to hear about the frustrating problem. Don't forget that Amazon 30 day return policy. You may be happier just to start fresh again??

I wish you well.

I’ve made a number of purchases from Adorama for a few years, not only for photography gear, but for other optics as well. I recently traded some lenses and got a great deal for a new lens. They have always been an excellent company to deal with,

Is it possible you mistook Abe’s of Maine for Adorama, our it could have been a comment from a competitor?

Even B&H doesn’t bad mouth them, and they are a competitor!

I have heard that Sirui tripods are of very good quality so do not expect them to brake anytime soon. Adorama is one of the best reputable dealers I know and whatever I could have bought from them I would have done with entire confidence.
Be assured Adorama will not keep you in the dark and will be there in the rare case that you need them.

Don't know about the Sirui tripods, but Adorama has always been one of the best camera companies to do business with and I'm sure they will make this right.

As far as buying from Adorama through Amazon, why would you do that if you had a choice? Amazon now charges sales tax on purchases where Adorama, B&H etc. do not. On a big order that could be chunk of change and the product is coming from the same place.

The answer to this is a definite "NO". I have worked retail before and trust me, they are just regular people with thousands of products if not hundreds of thousands of products to sell. Why would he have any clue that Adorama is not an authorized reseller of that particular product. In fact, I don't know anything about Sirui products. But if he says he'll get back to you in 2 days, then I'd wait the two days and see what he says, but since Sirui has already told you that they aren't an authorized reseller of their products you already know what you are going to do. So don't be mad at Adorama. Sirui probably doesn't have any authorized resellers and only warranty products they themselves sell. I'm just guessing here but if you what to really know the answer, go to Sirui's website and see if you can get that information so you know where to go for the warranty. But what if the price is double through an authorized reseller? You have to weigh the information carefully and ask yourself what the likelihood is that you'd have a problem with that product.

I bought a Sirui monopod from Adorama a few months ago and the warranty card came in the box. Furthermore, I live in California and under California law, you don't even need to return a card or otherwise register a warranty for it to be enforceable.
