Since I installed the two feature updates on Windows 10, usb drives (cards and flash drives) are not recognized at all. They do not show up in File Explorer or Disc Management. Does anyone know how to uninstall the updates (not listed as security updates), or fix the issue another way? I need to download my photos and can't unless the issue is resolved. There is another thread discussing the updates but I don't think that issue has been covered.Thank you in advance.

After updating I could not edit anything with PSE 14 - continuous pop ups about RAM issues. Has to use task manager to close the app. I notified MS then rolled back the update. Open Settings.
Click on Update & Security.
Click on Recovery.
Under “Go back to the previous version of Windows 10,” click the Get started button.
Select an answer why you're going back.
Click the Next button.
Click the No, thanks button.

This probably won't help but my notebook with Windows 10 is 100% up to date including the April update and it does not have this problem.

I’ve had some issues on an Alienware notebook with that update. The update paused about halfway through to let me know the driver software for my Nvidia card was not compatible with the update and that after uninstalling those drivers, press Continue. I called Dell and they established a remote connection and took care of it.

I would advise deleting the drivers for the ports in the Device Manager and let it re-install (hopefully) fresher drivers.

If you right click on the usb device in Windows Device Manager, you can have it search for the correct drivers as well. Windows does a decent search like that, but sometimes you need to search the manufacturer's website.

Or consider Linux. I've been using the Ubuntu variant all week and it is doing just fine so far.

I am in agreement, Microsoft has messed up big time with the Windows 10 update. My computer is usable but barely. Hick ups with files, google down to a crawl, inability to process files in Canons proprietary software or Luminar 2018. I reinstalled the Windows update so I can't roll back to the previous version which means I am just going to have to wait for patches to fix this mess. Sooner or later I will get things rolling again hopefully with Windows but it will be cold day before I do a major update of Windows, again!!!!

I have a desktop and a laptop running Windows 10. Both are completely updated and not one iota of trouble. I am so happy that I'm not paying a lot more for computing power by buying into Apple. I do have their iPhone X, though. Best for photography.

From several reviews I have read the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus just edges out the iPhone 10 Plus for camera pictures. And Samsung is second. I have only one tablet with Windows 10 just I can keep up with the technology. Windows 7 or Linux as Apple is behind in technology usage and higher prices for older technology (CPUs).

If Apple had as many different computer manufacturers to deal with as Windows has, you can bet they would have problems too. Many people hated Windows XP too, but once Windows got all the bugs worked out with all the various hardware configurations out there, XP was a smooth operating system. Windows 10 has a built-in disk imaging program. A wise thing to do is to make a complete backup image to store on an exterior drive before one of the major updates, so your entire installation can be reinstalled in the case of disaster. My 2 computers are working just fine after the update. Windows 10 beats the pants off Windows 8.

Very good Bruce I was going say this very thing to do, I’m glad I read on so it wouldn’t be said a second time. Every time something goes wrong with updates from MS it seems the first thing is folks want to uninstall the update, driver issues happen all the time, yes I understand most folks know nothing about computers.

I just wish more community centers gave courses in understanding you computers and how to take care of it!

I was at the dentist just yesterday and when they were unable to get their xray process to display any images on their computer, I mentioned the fact that Microsoft was pushing out updates for Windows 10. A few minutes later, the updating message appeared on their Windows 7 Professional screen. They were still working on it when I left.
