Yes because he was in front of depth of field. Aperture needs to be closed down.

You only took it at 1/40 second. Your lucky you got it that sharp. The body, of course, is relatively sharp. but the head movement prevents this from being a keeper.

It wasn't the aperture, it was the shutter speed of only 1/40 second.

Yes blurry. Lesson is to make sure your shutter is fast enough to catch such movement 1/125 should do it. The DOF looks shallow but that many be from the movement. If you had added the camera settings we could suggest better.
