Imaging thru the haze...

I could see stars last night; had to be good enough? Well, not quite but what the heck...

ATIK Color Horizon camera, STC Duo-Spectra filter, Astro-Tech 65EDQ scopes, Celestron AVX mount, unguided...

After seeing the Moon results I should have quit but decided to shoot the Leo Trio and Hercules Cluster (two processing attempts). I should have quit!!

Enjoy!

The moon shot is almost eerie but the others look really nice considering the conditions.
I'm hoping for clear skies tonight to test my newt further but we shall see.
Glad to see we are all starting to image again.

Far too noisy for my liking and my banding problem is back (no idea why?). Back to chasing ATIK...

Ya, the Moon shot is eerie. I've never captured the shadow side of the Moon when it is almost half lit; a first for last night!

Were they single shots, or stacked? Stacking helps reduce the noise, I think, and probably the banding shows up because they were probably stretched a bit too much. Having said all that, I still think they came out pretty good. The moon shot is interesting!

They are all interesting to me, but the Moon shot is really artsy, and the contrast is very stark.
I like it!

Banding returns? Odd. Any idea's about changes that might have brought that about?
Changes in software that might have possibly interacted with the Atik software? (Updates being particularly suspect, in my view.)
Sometimes updates fiddle with drivers and cause changes that can leave you going WTH?

As the captions on the images show, they were multiple sub images and the banding was not random.

I agree with your assessment on the banding; they were stretched far too much but that in itself doesn't 'create' banding. The banding was in the original subs.

You idea of 'pretty good' and mine are distinctly different. I view the results as pretty crappy!!

Ya, I like the (artsy) Moon shot as well.

WRT the banding, the laptop I use for imaging is standalone, i.e.: no updates or other nonsense. Not too sure where the banding originated? Maybe I was simply holding my mouth wrong when shooting!?

The Moon shot looked 3D.
OK, so that rules out any non-disclosed defluggalties from Windoze or the like.
I've had Winderz updates give me weird stuff until another magical update fixes the bad one. That's why I mentioned it.
So I guess we are down to holding your mouth wrong then....
Have you tried standing on your head?
(Better to ask first if you can stand on your head... I'm pretty sure I can't anymore.)
Any thing from Atik about it?

I spent four hours imaging tonight and no banding! No idea why? Luck of the draw? The way the system started?

I could stand on my hands a few decades ago. I'd probably break something if I tried now...
