Redo: Through my window and need ID (with pics this time) :)

Would help if I uploaded the pictures... In any case, this is from the mistake post:

I got these shots through my family room window hand holding 600mm lens (ouch). I don't know how some of you do that routinely! I didn't dare go out, as I was afraid it would leave. I think this is a dove, but I am not sure? I assume one of you can help me with that and I think I need a book. Thanks for looking.

Thanks or the ID. I just ordered the National geographic guide to North American birds. I thin I'll just leave it in the car.

I believe that to be a mourning dove. They become targets around the first of September, in Texas. They go from lackadaisical, low flying, meandering birds on August 31 to 60 mph, darting birds, that fly on oxygen on September 1.

Fran,

The Sibley Guide to Birds is a reference work and field guide for the birds found in the United States and Canada, and in my opinion, it's the best available.

I'm not familiar with that one. I just placed th order on Amazon. It's not to late to cancel. I will look into it right now.
