Google retired Picassa in May 2016.

Although it is no longer supported, it still is very useful. However, I don't know how well is supports the RAW files from that camera.

That's to be expected. Picasa does not do any enhancement on RAW files. I see the same exact behavior that you are seeing, and I initially had some questions as to why I was NOT seeing this behavior in LR (apparently LR DOES do some enhancement on RAW files on import). Check out this thread: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-525299-1.html#8918442

Also Picasa is obsolete. I really liked it but Google went to Google Photos which does not meet my needs. I use LR.

Here is a comparison of the two images I see on Picassa.

Looks like Tungssten white balance on RAW image. I expect your camera and file are fine. A problem with outdated software.

Your camera should have free software to use.

Admittedly, I am using Picassa but never had this problem before. Shooting raw and jpg on a new Nikon D5500. The JPGs are fine. The raw are severely degraded. Dark cast on all raw inages. Sent sample images to Cameta Camera. They seem to feel it is a camera problem. When I shoot raw only, I can see they are fine in the camera. Is Picassa now obsolete?

Picasso’s is dead. It was terrible, so Google killed it. Others have recommended far better choices. Affinity Photo is excellent for $50.

When you shoot raw, you are still looking at jpegs in the camera. You can’t look at a raw file.
