Sony missing from World Press Photo Contest Results.
One quick thought is that pros (especially older ones, i.e., over 30) are invested heavily in existing equipment whether that be Nikon or Canon and aren't ready to abandon that investment for Sony's relatively recent entrance in the market. That transition to Sony and mirrorless is going to take some time.
Only 75% of the total 129 winning images had EXIF data allowing for analysis of the camera used. Just assume the remaining 25% came from Sony, in addition to the 4 first place winners identified as the A7RII ...

It’s not about the camera. Award winning images can be made with any camera made in the last few decades or more. Purely coincidence that Sony did not make one in this comp.
No arguments. It just confirms that Nikon and Canon DSLRs are not dead.
If I had thousands of dollars invested in lens I'd stay with that brand, what ever it may be.

I use Sony's for personal use sometimes. I think they are great camera's but when I'm hired, I use my Canon camera's. They have the accessories and lens that I need. Too expensive to convert over.

If you watch any sporting events most the photographers are using canons. Im a Nikon man myself only because I always used Nikon cameras. Except when I was a wedding photographer years ago than it was medium format cameras. The reason they give is that the canon focus faster than the Nikon. So if you don't need that split second difference go with what ever floats your boat.

I've never heard that all Canons are faster than all Nikons. Does anyone else know this?
