Youtube U will drag you thru. Just look up "nikon d3400 tutorial". Make sure you have snacks and drinks nearby. And the camera!
AND if you also open up the "savido.net" website, with a couple of hoops to go thru, you can download the videos.*

Thanks for the wonderful Welcomes...hubby just surprised me with the suggestion that I choose a good zoom lense for my BD... Granted my Bd is tomorrow and he bought a new riding mower for ME already, I am sure he is banking on my lack of knowledge to get him off this deal....after 38 yrs of marriage I kinda know how he thinks
...yet amazingly he lacks that talent as of yet...lol

I turned another year today, 6 months ago I lost 1/3 of a lung to cancer, my hair came back thick and CURLY, I no longer worry about age...I worry about not having fun...every chance I get while I am still on this side of the dirt. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!

I can kinda relate. They've told me I have 3 to 5 ... 3 plus years so far. Winner winner!
That 3400 is a good camera. It has lots of help built in for beginners. Lots of capabilities for everyone.
I would personally suggest the Nikon 55-200 VR lens next. It just might become the "I'll just leave this on" lens for almost anything.
