Don’t touch them, they carry Leprosy. Transmission is rare but does happen.

They have the same problem with cattle and gopher holes up north.

I lived in Texas for a year and yes we called them that! I never saw one upright.....always dead along the road.

Uncle had house trailer in Arkansas and had to armor the underside to keep those critters from burrowing into the underside. We tourists from the North love seeing them, but possums up here don't cause near that kind of damage.

I love these animals and even had a chance to participate in an armadillo race years ago (mine lost). Thanks for sharing this lovely shot.
