Traveling to Cordoba, Granada, Ronda (sp?), Seville, Jerez, Costa del Sol, end of April through May. Any tips on must have photo's, shooting locations, etc, from these areas would be appreciated

Not much happening in Spain in early Spring.....maybe May-Day is all I can think of.

That's a good time to visit Spain before it gets too hot. All those places are worth seeing especially those inland, don't forget to book a ticket for the Alhambra, it gets very busy but is worth a visit.
If you are driving along the Costa del Sol do the ride from Malaga in a North East direction so you will be on the coast side, you may need to leave the road to get to some of the villages below the road. Avoid the main Costa resorts as they can be overrun with Brits and Germans, also don't go along the Costa del Sol past Marbella, it's very disappointing (unless you particularly want to visit Gibraltar). Gib is very interesting but personally, I wouldn't bother to go as the Spanish Border Police can be very awkward and can create huge delays.
Do try to get off the beaten track and visit the many white villages to be found inland.
Have a great trip especially Ronda.

My advice would be to keep a eye on your valuables. Sorry I don't know about those areas in terms of photography.

Ronda and the Pueblos Blanca's in the surrounding area are must visits. The Alhambra & Granada will most likely be a crowded mess that time of year but get what you can get (really early am maybe). Tickets for the Alhambra can be hard to get if you don't already have them and advice, take a tour or have a tour guide. Cordoba, the bridges and the Mosque for sure. The Sierra Nevada's east of Granada are spectacular. Gibraltar is another place worth spending a day, great views from the 'Rock'....Enjoy and looking forward to your photos

Just like to add add to be sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get to Alhambra. Tickets have to be ordered well in advance - (like NOW). Tickets are time specific. Its a good twenty minutes walk from the ticket office to the entrance to the palace. Get there well beforehand, there is plenty to photograph between the ticket office and the palace. There are some interesting ethnic neighborhoods coming down from Alhambra to the city center.

Allow plenty of time to enjoy Ronda. Practice taking stitched panoramas for the gorge and 'new' bridge in Ronda - much better than an ultra wide angle. Shoot the bridge from both sides. There are footpaths going down the sides of the gorge to good vantage points. Also some nice shots around the 'old' bridge and city gate. Check out the bullring and the little plazas in the old town. Hotel San Gabriel highly recommended and reasonably priced.

Interior of Seville Cathedral is very impressive and is right beside the Real Alcazar. Seek out La CarbonerĀa tavern (hard to find) for the most authentic Flamenco experience.

Mesquite (Mosque and Cathedral) in Cordoba are awesome - a "forest" of columns with Cathedral in the center. Granada's Alhambra is amazing, be patient, I have tons of photos with no people (we visited Andalucia in 2010 - September). Granada has many sights - Cathedral is spectacular. The Alcazar in Seville, while newer ( 300 to 400 year) is wonderful, particularly it's gardens.

If you are going to Cordoba, then I guess that you know about the Alcazar. Must see. I absolutely agree with a previous post re: the Alhambra in Granada. Make sure to get tickets on-line early. The place sells out way in advance. And if you find yourself in the neighborhood of Nerja on the coast, you will find a very cool limestone cave (known for having the world's largest stalagmite) well worth seeing. If you have the time, traveling all the way over to Barcelona will offer you most amazing tapas you'll ever have.

What a great trip! My daughter did a year abroad in Madrid for her junior year in college. My wife and I made the trip out and spent most of our time in southern Spain we toured most of the cities you mentioned. We spent about a half of a day in Gibraltar and a day in the other cities visited. The Alhambra may be crowded, but it is worth the trip if you book your tickets in advance. Ronda is outstanding and will offer many photo ops, but then all of the cities and their historic sites are beautiful.

The best thing in Spain is the concept of the tapa. You buy a beer or glass of wine and they give you a little something to nibble on. When we first stopped in a bar in Madrid I couldn't figure out why the beer glasses were so small ;-)

LOL, they never give you anything unless you pay for it....but you're right beer & Tapa-Hopping is the thing to do, great little bites. Don't forget that Spain is famous for their Jamon' the best ham you'll ever eat

So, aside from watching one's valuables, and not knowing about photography opportunities, do you have any truly noteworthy suggestions relative to choward's query?
