This guy was in my yard this morning and I think he's a cooper's hawk. I see many red tailed hawks but this is the first time I've seen this one. I also saw a wild turkey this morning and I've never seen one near my yard yet, but have seen them in wooded parts of FL.

I don't think it's a peregrine because I'm looking at a peregrine picture and they have much more leg feathers and different eye color.

Actually my reference says it is a Sharp Shinned Hawk.

It could be a Sharp-shinned but can't see the tail at the right angle for a positive ID but it is one or the other (Cooper's) It's not a falcon of any type.

Yes, I'm looking at the Audubon guide and the sharp shinned and coopers look identical to me, so I'm sure it's one or the other. According to the guide, both are in FL.

Could be a Sharp-shinned or Cooper's Hawk. Cooper's Hawk is much larger - 14-20" vs 10-14" for a Sharp-shinned. It's not a falcon.

Cooper’s and Sharp-shinned are very similar. The pattern on the underside of the tail would define.

The Coopers Hawks around Southern California I see do not have the blue coloration.
