I have Canon 60D trying to connect wirelessly (or sync) to my Yongnuo Speedlite YN560-II, but I cant do it, it says on my camera External flas func. setting, "This menu cannot be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash's power if turned off". The fact that the speedlite is on and in front of my camera face to face... Can anyone help?

Thank you very much!

Look carefully. It appears that you have a simple hotshoe camera, not a dedicated base. It may work TTL off the camera, but not on the camera.

I had the same problem with my 60D. check the contact points on your hot shoe. When this happened to me,turned out the prongs had bent, all i had to do was (carefully)bend them back up. Problem solved.

Hello there! nothing wrong with the prong, its perfectly working when its attached to my 60D, I want to imposed here is that how about wirelessly? Or did u try using your speedlite wirelessly, eg like placing the speedlite away from your camera or using it as a back light to your subject?

Or do i have to buy Wireless Flash Trigger/Receiver in order to work what i really want to this speedlite?

Thank you very much for replying...

It still sounds to me like the exact same problem,The flash worked on the camera but would'nt work wirelessly.I could'nt figure out the problem. It was my techie son who found the issue and I never would have noticed it.It was with those very thin strips of metal you see if you look under the lip of the bracket edges of your hot shoe.(I'm not sure if I'm describing that well)One was bent down.(when the flash comes off they're supposed to lift up) I hope you figure it out soon!!!

Sixshooter;

I cant help my self thinking what you have said, so i ended up checking it, the one in the middle (the bigger one) i guess is the power connection to the camera and the small one in front of it is the lock for the camera... still not working....

How about the setting on the camera?

Tnx again!

Your flash cannot function as a "master flash" it's only a slave. (like the 430EXII)

Therefore you need a master flash to trigger it OR wireless triggers. Your onboard flash can be the master.

Your flash manual says this:

Quote:
S1 mode: It will work with the first trigger of master flash synchronously; the master flash should be set at manual flash.

so it needs a "master flash" such as a 580EXII or you use your pop up as a master.

(at least according to the Yongeuo manual.)

The wireless mode on the 60d and 600d will only work with a canon flash as I have a yonguno 560 and a nissin 662 but they don't work with the camera

buy the yong nuo wireless triggers (I think the model is something like RF602). Make sure they are compatible with your camera, though. I use them for my Nikon (oops) and my yn460s fire every time (unless I forget to turn the flash on or forget to turn the receiver on).

I think this query or something very similar was answered some days ago.. It seems that wireless flash is a misleading term.. since it does not depend on a wirelss (radio) signal as such. The off-camera flash gets it's information from the camera's pop-up flash which obviously needs to be deployed as the "master" with the off-camera flash being set as the "slave"...

i have 4 of the yongnuo flashes and they are manual, not TTL.

you have 2 choices in firing those flashes off camera.

1. set the 560 in slave mode and use your on camera flash or an external flash mounted to your camera's hotshoe to fire the off-camera 560

2. use a wireless trigger, like the yongnuo rf603. amazon sells them for under $30 for the pair (hook one to the camera hotshoe and hook the other to the flash.

#2 is the easiest and you don't have to be in the line of sight.
