Will GIMP process RAW image? When I try to put a photo in the GIMP processor the list of photos to choose from only shows the JPG version of the photos.
Thank you
There is a plugin (ufraw) which will do that.
Take a look at Picasa 3 stand alone. it does process raw.
GIMP will not process RAW files. As stated, you will need ufraw to do that. You can also convert to other file formats besides jpeg and it will process those. I don't remember which those are but Google might help.

UFraw is the plugin GIMP recommends but a better one is rawtherapee and it is also a free download.

UFraw is a repository of Raw conversion files used by Linux and Unix so that they come under the 'free for common use' license....so is kept 'as up to date' as possible and YES it will work on any platform OS.

Check out RawTherapee. It's a free download and seems to be comprehensive and easy to learn.
Raw Therapee is among the best raw editors out there. it is my go to editor for all my raw files from my nikon and my olympus cameras.

Yes, yes, yes! Download Raw Therapee and forget about GIMP. I have V4.0 and it also is my go to editor.

Another vote for raw therapee. I've tried ufraw several times, and can't figure out how to use it. Maybe it's just me.

same here on ufraw, I was only able to get washed out looking images. My next vote would go to Light Zone, or Darktable.
Buy ON1, a fabulous suite, no I don't get paid to say so and you won't regret it. A great replacement for adobe, cheaper by far and no subscriptions.

That is because it is a plug in with The Gimp....and or other programmes...yes will work as a stand alone. Rawtherapee is also great and has extended tools and resources.
Every, non camera manufacturer, Raw processor 'reads' Raw files slightly differently, including Adobe. There are online articles to back this up.....not that it matters, because you need the 'end result' more than the starting image + there are often things you need to do in other programmes later in any case
have fun.
