If you’re not a perspective buyer, why are you commenting on another member’s listing? Do you think the readers need a reviewer to compare prices for them? I can promise you that this is not appreciated by the seller and wouldn’t be appreciated by you if you were listing an item for sale.

If I was selling an item on this site, I certainly would want a fellow hogger to warn me if my listing was not being fair to all parties. As a seller. I believe you have an obligation not only to yourself but also to any potential buyer. Anything less is unethical IMO.

No. You have not been appointed as the arbiter as to what is a “fair” price, and you may not know all the facts. The seller has zero obligation to provide comparative pricing, only to represent the item for sale honestly. It’s not your listing, it’s none of your business, and you’re presumptuous in believing potential buyers can’t look up prices on their own. You’re not “exposing” some unethical dealings, you’re butting into a transaction that’s not yours, and that is really bad form.

Let me give you an example you may be able to relate to. You’re selling your house. You or your realtor are having an open house, and someone who you don’t know and has no interest in buying your house shows up while you’re showing it to potential buyers and posts a sign in your yard listing all the competitive houses in the neighborhood that are lower in price per square foot. Now do you get it?

I should have sent a PM to the OP. But you should also understand that you have not been appointed as the spokesperson for the OP and by acting as the spokesperson you are also butting into something that is none of your business.

Good grief, I agree that no one would appreciate it if they were selling an item here and someone butts in and complain. If you're not a prospective buyer then leave it alone. Again let the seller handle it and yes private message that kind of remark. I do not think that there was a purposeful mislead here.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being an educated consumer. Some folks try and cheat other folks. Not nice!

Part of being part of a forum like this ought to be that others would alert you to good or bad deals. A legitimate post might be, "At another site, someone is offering a Canon 6D with 15K clicks for $900. Do you think this is a good deal?"

Why allow this very site to become a place where we do not help each other with such a purchase, but only sit and watch while one of us gets the wool pulled over our eyes?

It's always buyer beware, sellers always want the most can get. Buyer needs to do research, that's how I got current new 6d2 for $1379 total price (with Canon warranty)

I agree, and we can help them with that. It's what a forum's for.

I agree completely (being an educated consumer), BUT there is no attempt to cheat anyone. I can’t speak for the OP, but I’m betting that he paid well more than $900 for the camera and thought he was selling it at a fair price, and there’s no reason to believe he was aware of the refurb price sale.
