I'm sure he is aware and most likely a case of using the wrong terminology. When is a magazine not a magazine? (Grin) When I can turn a page.

I own one of the dreaded assault rifles. Same kind I carried when I was in Vietnam. I do not see any reason to own a hundred round magazine. That being said I suggest a ban on all guns. I'm sure the druggies, crooks, rapists and other bad guys will follow suit of the good guys and turn in their weapons? Nobody needs a gun these days with the police protection we have. Even if the response time of the police is on average about 4 to 5 minutes. That should give you sufficient time to politely ask an intruder to leave. While we're at it let's ban things like pitch forks, knives, billy clubs, ball bats, scissors and fertilizer. That stuff can be used to make a bomb. Countries like Britain, Australia and many more European and Middle Eastern countries basically took guns away from the honest citizen. Now their into car bombs, IED's and other weapons. Make no doubt about it the truth is, anybody who is intent on perpetrating harm on others will find a way with or without guns. If one honest citizen had been armed at the Aurora theater maybe the outcome would have been different. Thank you but I'll keep my guns even though I don't ever think I will have to use them, but just incase . . .

I have always thought that there was some sort of fear motivating someone that "had" to own a gun. Sometimes the fear is warranted, sometimes it is a paranoid delusion. The trick is to be able to recognize the difference.

I don't recall which country it is (it may be Switzerland) but a country in Europe encourages gun ownership to the point that if I remember correctly, the government will provide a handgun to any citizen that desires one. Anyway my point is that the crime rate in that country is almost non-existent!
Interesting stuff!

At one time Switzerland required their male population to have and be competent in the use of a firearm.
That all changed some time ago because of a shooting incident in that country. As usual the political answer to that one problem was to restrict gun ownership similar to Great Britain's.

Tramsey, NO it was not an assault rifle, NO it was not automatic, and NO I do not believe that he reloaded. It was a plain rifle, semi-automatic. Please stop watching the news and and believing everything you see and or hear on TV or at the local coffee club and go take some pictures and in between that , ah nevermind.

I am 4 times more likely to get injured shooting pool than I am when hunting. Let's ban pool tables.

I was interested to note the OP mentions banning pitch forks, billy clubs, knives, ball bats, etc. in jest. Where I live billy clubs are on the ban list, as are baseball bats...if you have a baseball bat in your vehicle, there better be a ball and glove in there too, or you're in trouble with the law.
It's almost as if the law is working hand-in-hand with the lawbreaker! Hmmmm...

It's job security, if you can keep yourself safe why would we need police...

Perfectly stated. I can understand the fear untrained folk have of firearms, but one only has to look at mexico to see the positive effect severe gun control has had on protecting innocent ppl from violent crime there.

Huey we carried the same weapon and shot at the same folks. You delivered me and I thanked you when you got my shot up a$$ out of the there.

But, we did not have 100 round clips. I have nothing against anyone who is allowed to own a gun having one. I just doubt the need for a 100 or even 30 round clip.

Should we sell SAWs on the open market? I think not. Why is it we agree that a machine gun is not needed by the citizenry but a 100 round clip for a semi automatic is OK? Just doesn't make sense.

I have a ruger mini 30, it is an awsome weapon. Hell you can knock down a building with it. I use it to hunt boar. But, I don't need a 30 round clip to do it.

As for rounds of ammo in the house. Who cares? Just make sure the fire department knows because in case of a fire you no longer have a house fire but rather an ammunition dump fire!

I fail to understand why a private citizen should have an automatic assault rifle' let alone a hundred round clip. When I was on the police force I was on a shooting team. I had 50 bullet casings and powder. I made the bullets from wheel weights. I won seven Grand Master Tournaments. You don't need a hundred rounds of anything. I strongly feel the automatic assault rifles and hundred round clips so should be band.

None of these were automatic weapons. It take a Class 3 tax stamp to own an automatic. You being an expoliceman should know that.

You are correct but I understood the assault rifle was automatic. That's why he had that huge clip. That's how he emptied it and had to reload.

I thought it jammed because he was pulling the trigger too fast (not an automatic) and pulled it before a cartridge was reloaded into the chamber.
