ULTRA WIDE POINT & SHOOT

Is there a decent quality point & shoot that has extra wide lens capability ? 18mm ? I've seen 24mm but can't seen to fine 18mm. I'm not interested in a super long zoom , just wide angle end.
Thank you

Very good question. I have been looking into this as I also often have the need for wider than those 24-25 mm that is usually at the wide end of fixed lens cameras.
Until now I have not found a single point and shoot fixed lens camera with a wider lens than that.

So your best option is to buy interchangeable lens camera and a wide lens with it. And try to make it as compact as possible. That would direct you to something like the Nikon 1 system and the 6.7-13 mm lens. That would compare to a 18-35 lens in full frame terms.

Other manufacturers have someting similar to offer in terms of focal lengts but I think this is the most compact combo of them all. You could get a Nikon 1 V1 camera used for about $100 or a Nikon 1 J5 or Nikon 1 V3 new for a lot of money.

Sigma DP Quattro 0 comes closest to have a fixed wide lens with lens that is 14 mm and about 21 mm in full frame terms.

From the specs:

"Lens focal length f=6.3 - 18.9mm, equivalent to 35 - 105mm on a 35mm camera"

I'm not sure of the focal length, but check out this camera with a170 degree FOV:

Have a look at Rokinon or Samyang 12mm f2 lens. Very low price and very sharp so lens testers say. I'm thinking about getting one for my Sony 6000 (with my camera the lens is said to have 18 or 19mm focal length). Internet lens test articles claim that Rokinon and Samyang are the same company and that these 2 lenses are identical although Samyang is priced a little lower.
Good luck.

The Nikon 1 has a 2.7x crop factor, so with its widest lens, the 10mm f2.8, it has an equivalent focal length of 27mm. Anyway the OP was looking for a P&S or bridge camera. The widest angle on a bridge camera is 20mm, like on the Panasonic FZ70 and the Samsung WB2200F.

No, the widest lens for the Nikon 1 is the 6.7-13 mm zoom lens. Not the 10 mm. And it fits the OP criteria of 18 mm lens if he is talking full frame equvalent as I expect.

I guess you could say the IPhone is a point and shoot. I use mine with a Moment 18mm wide angle lens.

I stand corrected. I hadn't seen that lens before. But it's a $500 lens that with the 2.7x crop factor gives an equivalent focal length of 18mm, a small improvement on the 20mm FZ70 bridge camera. But am I missing something? Didn't the OP specifically ask info on a P&S or Bridge Camera? The Nikon 1 is a dslr.

The OP was asking about a point and shoot with 18 mm lens and decent quality. Since I have never seen that wide lens on a point and shoot (in full frame terms) I suggested the Nikon 1 and this 6.7-13 mm lens. But it sure is pricey. However the OP said nothing about a budget so maybe this is a good idea if the price is not an obstacle. And if he keeps the lens on the camera all the time it will serve him just like a fixed lens camera
