Usually see these guys grubbing around on the ground where I live so it is delightful to see such superb photos such as yours. A bit too much lichen, perhaps, but the birds themselves are perfect.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind words. There is a lot of lichen on the more mature trees in this area... some of the old maples are almost covered with it. I'd have preferred a bit less in these photos, but when a bird like this lands in the open, in good light, I'll take it, lichen or not!!
