Since Joining the hog I have read various postings on health related problems. From bad knees to eyesight. Many times here in North East Pa. people go out hunting. Most are in shape ;some are not and sometimes found deceased or suffering from hyperthermia after getting lost or confused in the woods. I have had eyesight surgery (cataracts, detached retinas,Back surgery 2times each one .So here are a few suggestions!Keep your self in reasonable good shape(My doctor wants me at 170But I known my best weight for energy is between 185 &200).Any thing else affects me negatively.Know your area .If I'm looking out or scouting a shoot for my self ;Iwalked it with a small point and shoot . My RIT prof use to make us go first with 35mm to scout out scenes then go back to the same areas with a view camera .Let people know where you are going.Don't rely on cellphones buy a battery back up better yet buy a small citizens band radio .The new hand held portables are about $100.00. In new areas I used to go concealed carry. Depends on state some are reciprocal some are not especially NY. For eye sight I used an ophthalmologist and an optician.(Contacts for shooting ; glasses as back up .Usally worked quite well. Found a good knee Dr. I get shots in my knees rather than surgery.Oh yes, forgot fell on my right knee in company parking lot my rear end landed on it so add knee surgery too .What I'mbasically saying is take care of yourself when shooting.Take care of the people or whoever are with you.Take care of your equipment. If you think you might move to a risky position take the time to re think the shot.As I was told once before sometimes you can find a shot within a shot that you just took. Finally some words of wisdom from Daniel O'Donnell the Irish singer "Today is a gift that is why we call it the present" and "Yesterday is past that is why we call it history" To all of you out there in HOG world Happy shooting !!!

You can always find one of those places where they stake the animal to a post and you can blast away at it. LOL

TMI. Nothing but run-on sentences, poor grammar and useless personal medical information.

Take your cell phone, mark the spot you park, and walk to your heart's content.

Lighten up, it’s easy to criticize, but it doesn’t elevate you in the eyes of others.
If you don’t like a post the decent thing is to ignore the post. The OP was sharing out of the goodness in his heart, your reply really added little to the conversation.

I do not see what the 'conceal & carry' has to do with medical or photography. This is just another disguised pro-gun post.

Guns, I’m a wetland consultant, 30 years of walking the woods, I’ve never owned a gun, don’t have a problem with them, just whenever I’ve had the money for one I buy a “camera toy” instead. I’ve had three unusual encounters where maybe concealed carry would have been let’s say...comforting, I leave it to my staff if they wish to, 2 of them do, Eastern Coyotes have become a real safety issue around NEOhio. So it’s cool, whatever, right?

Interesting post. As far as concealed carry goes, to get a permit most have to be schooled in gun use and safety. Many lost hikers would love to have something to shoot in the air to signal searchers and although it is not a major concern, having some protection is not a problem to the person or to others. The only relationship to photography is keeping the individual save and that is important. One needs to know what threats are and if all you need is bug spray, be thankful! Two years ago I was picking blackberries and found a poisonous snake by my foot in such a way that I could not move without disturbing it. Glad I had a gun on me at the time!

O.K., wetflicker, your admonition does nothing to address the conversation. Try to concentrate.

"out of the goodness of his heart"? Are you kidding?

It was out of the neediness of his own self image. Boo Hoo😭😭😭
