finally ( at least I have just remembered to go and check ) there are a bunch of D500 books on Amazon; has anyone ready any of them, and, have particularly recommend one ? don't like to
read a lot, so, a nice concise guide is good ( besides the cheat sheet )

I have found this one excellent: http://www.amazon.com/David-Buschs-Nikon-Digital-Photography/dp/1681981467/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521568897&sr=8-1&keywords=david+busch+d500

Many on the forum have expressed satisfaction with this site and in particular the SECRETS TO THE NIKON AUTOFOCUS SYSTEM. You will find many easy to follow videos on this site as well:

I have the Thom Hogan publication, from Amazon. I put it on my iPad so when traveling have an easy handy reference. You can get an "e" version of the manual direct from Nikon just to have it with you.

Absolutely agree on the Busch books. I have one for each of my Canon bodies and they are well written with color photographs & menu illustrations, unlike the unreadable B/W 'Dummy Books'.

I have Mastering the D500 by Darrell Young and it is excellent. However, there is a lot to the book and you may be looking for a simpler guide. I have also used David Busch books in the past. Both authors are excellent.

Maybe David Busch field guide, usually short and to the point and easy to carry in the camera bag!

The Kindle edition of David Busch's D500 Guide is excellent and I just got the D850 this week. The field guides are no where near as complete as the full edition.

If yopu want the very best reference guide to ANY Nikon DSLR then you need to check out those by Thom Hogan. They are excellent works and very in- depth info about all of the camera's features, how they work, and why you would make use of them, with recommendations about nominal settings for them. The link for the current D500 guide is: <http://www.dslrbodies.com/books/bythom-complete-guides-/nikon-d500-guide.html>, with a current price of $29.99 for the diigital download in PDF format and which he will allow, even under copyright, a single professionately bound copy to be printed by a competent source and which such statement is shown in the book to give that right to the copier/ binder, or by yourself if you only want a few pages at a time for reference. Excellent work if it's anywhere near the guides I have for the D200 and D300. Purchase also includes the right to obtain any future updates to the guide.

Which other books have you personally and specifically compared to Hogan's? Just curious.
