I recommend that you search Google for reviews on this lens. There are many excellent websites that provide owner reviews like Amazon.com, B&H photo, Adorama, etc plus professional organizations like dpreview. When I'm making a decision about buying new camera equipment that how get my info. I hope this helps, Arnold

I am new on here ,but I have the lens you are asking about and I love it.I am not a pro at photography but enjoy taking photo's of birds and animals and this lens works for me.I have a few shots i have taken that i will post. The thing that amazes me is the fact You can hand hold this lens at full 500mm and still get a good shot.I am not to good at using programs after you take the shots so these are strait out of the camera, other then some cropping. That is basically all I know to do with programs.Still learning that part ,and not doing to well with it. I Hope this helps

My cousin has this lens and she is really satisfied with it's performance. I've looked at her images and they are spot on in focus with great color.
I have the Canon 100-400 zoom which is a great lens, just a little less reach but very sharp and quick to lock onto subject and track focus with moving subjects.
You didn't say what brand of camera you are using so I just added the Canon remarks.
Hope this helps.

I have owned this lens almost a year now and it has performed terrifically. On a Canon 60D it produces very clear, sharp pics throughout all focal lengths. With a crop factor of 1.6. it's 800mm equivelant-an awesome reach for around $1100. The only downside, if any, that I have experienced is that the follow focus is a bit slow, due in part to the maximum aperture being only 5.0. I would not hesitate to recommend this lens to anyone.

Thank you. I've already done that.
I'm looking for user experience, which many times are better then the reviews.

Thank you!

That wasn't much of a review.
