We participated in a parade today. While we were staging I took the opportunity and asked if I could get a picture. He was happy to oblige got his dog out and made the pose. You would never have guessed the dog would attack with just a simple command.

We just had a sheriff deputy canine handler killed here about 2 weeks ago in the arrest of a felon. The dog was not harmed but was involved in the action. The dogs are a great addition to law enforcement as well as lot of other uses.

My brother and his Belgian Malanois are partners. The dog is amazingly intelligent and incredibly well behaved.

Usually the labs are drug dogs, and that may be the case there. The Belgian's on the other hand are like sticks of dynamite on a leash. Give me the Belgian every time! I trained Rotties, GSD and some Malinois in Shutzhund and IPO for many years and loved working with the dogs. Now my companion is a terrier chihuahua mix.

Thanks for all the comments. You'r bringing interesting knowledge and experiences to my post.
It looks like the dog is looking at me but actually the handler tossed out a stuffed ball and I sat next to it. His dog was totally focused on that ball as I took the picture. After the shot he said a command and the dog got up and came over to me, totally ignoring me, picked up the ball and returned it. I almost petted the dog as it approached but decided it might not be a good idea. :)

In my previous life I was a police K-9 handler so I appreciate your photo. I always
considered my K-9, Chopper, the best partner I ever had.

Just curious. did you find a difference between the Shutzhund trained GSD and the Malinois and/or did those dogs respond to english or german? Did you ever work with a Turvuren?
