Interesting shots, thanks. Makes one ponder on the 'who' and 'when', what they looked like and so many other questions.

WOW, Jay, these are awesome. Don't you wish those logs could have talked while you were photographing?
Enjoyed viewing.

Actually, such areas often are teeming with wildlife. Wherever there's a water source birds and mammals will abound. Hawks, eagles, ravens, magpies, etc. Mice, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, deer, elk, etc. But yes it's a hard life for us humans with scarce water and extremes of weather. It might grow on you if you spent some time in such an area. Give a whirl some time.

Nice series of a time long past. Sad that ranchers were just too darned busy surviving to sit down and write journals about their experiences. So much history is lost as to why these folks settled here, what they did and what were their dreams. Thanks for recording what's left of a dream long past.

There are a lot of abandoned buildings throughout our country and there is a story with each which can be imagined of dreams lost and a hard life of labor. Sometimes it seems our population is contracting and becoming more clustered in cities.

Well, I agree with you bob and like the old adage goes...how you gonna keep them down on the farm...
